It’s pretty obvious why SU went with Red even though most knew he wasn’t the best in-house guy to replace JB. I think we may have our guy for the next 20 years now. Fingers crossed.

I’m not beating him up. I hope he succeeds at SU and does whatever he wants with his future whether at SU or not. I actually like the guy and think he can be a good to great coach. He just took an unconventional path to his first head coaching opportunity.

I think most would go back to being a coordinator or a coach at a lower tier team. Fran probably wouldn’t have that option seeing how he was never a coordinator and he would have failed his first shot at being a coach.

If Fran wins and moves on to a bigger program so be it. At least it means we probably had a couple good seasons. As of now he is one more train wreck season away from being fired from SU and back to being a position coach.

And they have their name on the Melo Center. We live in crazy times.

Ever since they have been around circa 2019 SU football and basketball have been a train wreck for the most part. I get they have given lots of money but their influence in the AD has been bad for SU. Also their name on the Melo Center is BS.

I watched the first game at Tully’s in N Syracuse. Me being a superstitious nut job watched the next three games there to not mess up our mojo. The place was ape shyt crazy with fans going nuts.

Like sand through an hourglass, so are the day’s of our SU lives. The day to day activity on the hill would make for a hell of a soap opera.

We aren’t taking anyone from an SEC/Big10/Notre Dame School that they actually want.

I’d rather have the right coach and less NIL money than the wrong coach with more NIL money.

The Dome renovation was mandated to get in the ACC and it was well in motion before JW. I have been to the old Dome a zillion times and the new Dome maybe a dozen. I like the old Dome because I could give a dame about all the fluff. The teams that have played in the new Dome have mostly sucked...

JW is the AD we needed 20 or even 30 years ago. No one gives a damn about facilities now. If we are equivalent to a 3 star hotel and the next school is 4 stars but we offer $50,000 more in NIL. Guess where he’s more than likely going.

Not hire a clearly unqualified candidate in Red.

It’s a miracle it ever happened. There are some good YouTube documentaries about how close it was to not happening. MTV unplugged was an awesome show.

Syracuse athletics has been chronically sick for a long time. I wholesale change of leadership might not be the worse thing for SU.

I wish I shared your optimism. I have very little faith in the leadership to do what needs to be done to fix basketball. I kind of get football. I don’t think we are ever going to be a consistently good team ever again but I think we should be able to compete at a high level in basketball...

It’s almost the opposite. Syracuse is were you come to regress as a basketball player.

I thought it was a horrible hire the second it was announced. Red was my favorite player when I was in high school but he should have never been SU’s head coach under any circumstance. The fact he was given the job shows how whacked out the priorities are on the hill.

I got a bunch of shares when they first announced they were building here just to have rooting interest in a future local company. I know not the greatest investment strategy but it’s worked out nicely along with Nvidia stock I got shortly after Covid.

Unfortunately we do. That’s how we got stuck with an unqualified candidate last time around.

Listen. I’ve heard all the speculation that all these decisions were forced upon him and maybe they were. If the chancellor or BOT won’t let him do his job why stay. Especially when they are so clearly epically bad decisions. Me personally, I would have bounced.

Good idea since he has been the AD that stopped the JB to Hop succession plan, let JB burn down the house he built and hired someone that shouldn’t have sniffed the SU head coaching job.

I don’t think Syracuse has fickle fans. We had good numbers for a while in football and great numbers in basketball when we were no longer competitive programs. Years of getting beat down and no faith in the coaches and school leadership will kill most fan bases.

Ya. Loses like yesterday are as sure as the sun setting in the west as long as we have Red. My wife thinks I’m maturing but in reality I’ve just lost all hope with Syracuse basketball. If SU ever pulls their head out of their arse and hires a real coach I’ll be back to a maniac.

Basketball is a game of runs and red is a run killer for us and a run extender for the opponent. The game shouldn’t have been that close to begin with. Red is the master at keeping opponents in the game that we should crush. If you let garbage teams hang around you’re going to lose some of them.

ya JW is a great AD. Overseeing this awesome stretch of football, basketball and lacrosse is quite the feat. You JW fanboys are even harder to take seriously. Your like the North Korean citizens that think Kim Jong Un is a great leader.
