We start over with mostly new players every year regardless who is the coach. What did we have, two guys back from last year? How many the year before? About the same, i think. We shouldn't be retaining coaches merely for the purpose of keeping players.

I think you'd have a difficult time proving that too. But, what's a more difficult conference to have a good record in - one with 8 top 25 teams, 11 NCAAat bids and 4 bad teams; or one with 3 top 25 teams, maybe 6 ncaat bids, 9 mediocre teams and 4 bad teams?

There were seasons in the last 5-6 with SU when the Big East was better top to bottom than the ACC. The 2010-2011 season had 11 Big East teams in the NCAA tourney. Our first two seasons in the ACC were pretty solid. It was the drop-off in talent that turned things, moreso than the competition.

His success was entirely up to him. This team has the talent to win. But, while the roster improved, the coaching did not. I think most of us wanted him to grow into a good coach, but the growth is not evident. This team makes all the same mistakes of the past two teams.
