I think he was working for the Syracuse City School District through the spring semester - we were at the same event not long ago. He lived a couple blocks away from me and was pretty regularly lifting weights in the front yard, shooting hoops in the park, etc. Didn't even realize he'd moved.

Yeah...it's essentially a roast beef sandwich. Better than many. Not life-changing. I'd definitely consider the burger from Ale N Angus to be closer to "best in class" than this is within the universe of sandwiches, for whatever that's worth.

It always sticks with me how even-keeled Hamilton was as the coach of those absolutely dreadful Miami teams after they joined the Big East. They were the Bad News Bears out there but he seemed like such a positive presence on the bench.

Putting aside my naysayer hat for a moment...seriously - the solution to what? A couple years into the cash spin-cycle that college athletics stumbled into, I'm not sure what fan problem is solved by opening up the spigot more. Reminds me a bit of this:

Does Syracuse? Seriously, is that anything that's been addressed post-reseating? Seems to me that the math doesn't math in the basketball configuration based on how many total seats were removed.

Would he? The guy never played a lick of defense and was at the core of some notoriously soft teams. He could yap and make layups with both hands. The former would play great with the current team, but I'm not sure anyone on this roster is capable of the latter.

He seems like a student of the game.

I'm far from an expert, but every time I watch this team I see #8 and think "Him? This is the kid who 99% of the board wants to get more minutes?" He struggles to dribble. He moves like Greg Davis. It's probably an indictment of how far the talent level has fallen that he's even on the roster...

For years I mocked the coaches whose staffs huddled up apart from the players at the beginning of timeouts. Now Syracuse has that coaching staff. Probably discussing the nightly specials at Elephant and Dove.

Required direct intervention between coach and professor to prevent him from being academically ineligible his second semester. Almost never had a chance to miss that free throw. True story.

I've traveled on to road trips on a college basketball team bus, and I've done so on a plane. Not even close to a push. Bus is awful. That said, we're sacrificing comfortable and efficient travel so unremarkable 20-year-old basketball players can make solid salaries? What's the point, burn it down.

The Moro restaurant in Skaneateles is phenomenal. Always meant to get to the original in Auburn (which is a somewhat different concept and equally good, as I understand it). Agreed - nice underrated food town.

I'm still unreasonably irritated about that Penn State game. It was such a bad sign that the new coach watched this quarterback all August but couldn't see he wasn't the guy until three games in. Then IIRC Hunt came in and for one game was #1 in the country in QB rating or something like that...

So the thing is, college sports is stooooooopid. So stupid that the guys who make millions of dollars a year don't want to participate any more. Not sure why all the fans who pay thousands of dollars a year aren't catching on as quickly as the SMEs who are bailing on the charade.
