2023-24 Coaching Carousel

Exactly what I was going to post. Excellent hire but incredibly tough job. Their relatively new arena is pretty nice and certainly better than when they played at Allstate, but it is still kinda far from campus and they just have zero cache out here at this point.
Big East is much better than it was when Nova was tearing through it during their 6-7 year run of being elite.

X was down last year but they should be contenders with Miller most years, Smart has made Marquette a top 10 program, Creighton is damn close to a top 10 program, Seton Hall is talented, Butler tough, Providence very good considering their coach dumped them. Even Cooley signed a huge class for next year. If St Johns gets in watch Pitino make the second weekend.

Don't see DePaul being good anytime soon no matter who they have as the coach.

UVM just won their 8th straight America east playoff game. They will be the favorites to win the championship again on Saturday. This has been one of Beckers weakest teams in years, but they are still tough. No idea how he hasn’t gotten scooped up yet by a bigger program.
John Becker leading by example today, coaching his team to the conference championship despite separating his shoulder earlier in the week. True grit.

Too bad for Indiana State, they had a really nice season but their SOS did them in, plus all the upset in some of the conference tourneys.

Pivoting from a comment in another thread:

The SEC hasn't won any titles in a while (3 since 2000, last was 2012), but they've really committed to revamping their coaches for basketball. And there are some solid to great names in there. The longest tenured coach is Cal at UK at 15 years. There's been smoke about Oats, Musselman, Golden, BEard, Paris, and Buzz being poached by more traditional basketball schools, whether likely or not, which got me thinking, which coaches in the ACC would anyone try to poach?

Recently the SEC decided to increase the budgets of their basketball programs and spend more on head coaches. They saw how much money conferences can make for sending teams to the NCAA tournament.

It reminds me of the old Big East when many teams were coached by big name coaches.
