Chase Scanlan suspended indefinitely

Maybe it was Scanlan. ;)

Jeannette Rankin was a Congresswoman from Montana.

She was the only member of Congress to vote against the Declaration of War on Japan in 1941. The vote was 82–0 in the Senate and 388–1 in the House.

She also voted against WWI.

She was also a lifelong pacifist. She stuck to her beliefs in a time where that wasn't a great political move for a woman. Kudos to her.

This could explain why ultimately a coaching change was made. Some of you guys with more inside information probably already knew about the incidents mentioned, but hitting a teammate with his helmet and 3 other incidents of punching two other players wow. Hindsight is just that, but man seems like Syracuse should have stayed clear of him.

Handing him #22 without proper due diligence on his character was the first of many mistakes.
It's a embarrassing chapter in SU history that tarnished and won't easily be forgotten.

What eventually came to light nauseates.

Not intervening to address troubles from the very start was inexcusable . Clearly snow balling.

2021 was a bad lax season but will always remember that team for being responsible adults and taking a stand. They may have prevented a travesty.

Not claiming to be a psychiatrist or anything but homeboy is showing major signs of sociopathy. He makes it so hard to root for him; it’s like one thing after the other. I don’t feel like he thinks he’s doing anything wrong which is scary. Hope he gets it together eventually.

Dude needs to admit he has a problem (problems) and get some help.

If he doesn't, it won't end well. I hope he seeks help.
This is all kind of sad. Today I got a listing from a family I have done a lot with in the past 3-4 years. One adult daughter is an addict, has served time in prison, and they keep trying to help her. Once again, it did not work out, and mom is selling the condo that they had bought for her to live in. Really the other sister has been our client and she is the total opposite. Responsible, sweet, successful, etc. Then I came home and read about Chase. Some people need a lot and a lot of help, and sometimes nothing works.

Is it just a stereotype or is there something to say the Native American community has more trouble with alcohol than other ethnic groups?
No more than other ethnic groups. Problems with alcohol abuse/alcohol related death on certain reservations does not mean that the NA community as a whole has some sort of predisposition to alcohol issues. There are numerous other factors aside from them simply being Native American and a much higher percentage of NAs than white people abstain from alcohol altogether. Binge drinking rates are basically the same. It is a harmful stereotype.

national stats say there is a much higher prevalence. it's not 2 or 3 x, but it's significant. many factors such as economics, health, support systems certainly could largely play a role. it doesn't have to be a stereotype (90% with no issue), but a recognition that more resources going to the communities for any number of things could be greatly beneficial.

"Economics, health, support systems" 100% do play a role. What is certain is that NAs do not have any genetic/biological predisposition towards alcoholism, nor are they somehow genetically less capable of tolerating alcohol, "holding their liquor," or anything like that. Higher prevalence across the board nationally (that does not factor in environmental factors) is not evidence. It is important that everyone at least acknowledges that.

Whatever the causes are for Chase's current issues, his ancestry/genetic traits is not one of those reasons.

Chase has been signed by NLL Vancouver Warriors. Has already sparked a ton of pushback on Twitter. Interested to see if players will be willing to share the floor with him.
