So, if a kid walks on and doesn't take a scholarship, should he be free to enter into any bargain he wants?

I know your post was sort of made in jest, but it makes me wonder. What if the parents of a 5 star recruit were to come to JB and say, "we are willing to send our son to SU, but only as a walk-on, so you can take that LOI and rip it up. Our boy is aiming to play in the NBA and we want him to start earning ancillary revenue, however he can, as soon as he can, but we also want to be totally upfront and legal about it. He'll start paying us back his first year on the job."

Would JB say "go elsewhere"??? I actually think he would - hence the rub.
