Not sure if this was mentioned elsewhere, but CJ now has scored 1,357 points, putting him among the top 30 most prolific scorers in SU history.

With 4 points on Saturday he will pass Kid Kohls for 29th, and then he'll need a few more games to pass Otis Hill for 28th.

He should finish no worse than the top 20 before he is done.

Thanks, I was just wondering about this very thing actually. He's got to also end up pretty high on minutes played I would think.

SU should multiply Kid Kohls points by 1.5 since there was no 3 pointer back then and every shot he took, and made, was from 3 point distance. :)

And Kid only played 3 seasons, since freshman could not play varsity back then.

And when I was your age I had to walk uphill to school both ways ...yada, yada, yada...j/k

Funny in the old days players didn't have a freshman year, now most great players won't have a senior year.

I was just thinking about how sick Moten's numbers were, averaging 19.3 points over 4 years, and I kept scrolling and saw Dave Bing's 24.8 PPG. DAMN! If only that guy could bring back Detroit he would be perfect.

CJ might well crack the top 15
he'll almost certainly crack the top 15, but it looks like 13th is his ceiling. SU would have to go all the way to the national title game and CJ would have to average over 19 per game the rest of the way to catch Owens at 12.

You did the exact math I was too lazy to complete. I just took 15 ppg x 15 games.

The biggest problem with Shumpert's legacy is that his team's never made much noise in the post season and he will forever be associated with that awful senior season train wreck with Meshaun.

Freshman - One and done in the NCAA 21-12 (10-8)
Soph Year - The Great MSU second half melt down in the Sweet Sixteen 26-6 (13-3)
Junior Year - The Great Kansas blow out in the 2nd round 25-9 (10-6)
Senior year - NIT 23-13 (9-7)

Spot on. We don't have too many great memories from Shump in the month of March.

Billy Owens not too far behind for 3 year totals, Devendorf put up some points as well.

I never realized Devendorf would have been likely to end up #2 all time if he didn't leave early. Owens yeah, I wouldn't have been as surprised. Impressive list to look at and reminisce about.

Well, he played three full seasons plus 10 games. I don't know that he would have ended up #2 if he had finished his injury-shortened season.

This makes me realize how under appreciated Preston Shumpert is in SU basketball lore. Eighth all time. Wow.

Poor shump. If he had the luxury of playing today, he'd be dynamite. He had to be the primary guy during some "lean" years. If he had some better talent around him, he might have avg'd 6 threes a game. Kind of like Gerry's junior and senior year.

Can you imagine SHump or Gerry with Ennis getting them looks instead of Louis McCroskey or Desaun williams?

Don't rack your brain too hard on this one. How many players on that top 30 list SU scorers list did Jim Boeheim have the opportunity to either play with or coach in some capacity?

It's amazing to consider how many points Billy and Bing would have scored had the each had a fourth season. Billy averaged 23 as a junior, no reason to think he couldn't duplicate or improve on that as a senior. Say he does that again, even if he only played 30 games he would be up over 2500 points. Bing would be up over 2600.

It was that skinny kid with the glasses who kept setting him up. ;)
