I hear he interviews well and speaks well at the Rotary Club

He's singlehandedly keeping the local bologna industry in business, so he's good for the economy.

Lurch Marrone:
Has lost 7 in a row.
4 years of horrible special teams and bonehead plays on the field.
Coaches a revolving door.
Struck out on 90% of the big NY recruits.
Oline-some individuals accolades but bad his entire time for an Oline specialist.
All the secrecy just a farce.

I think you heard in Gross's voice during todays game that he is done unless he has a decent year.

I have always thought that SB was a game DM could not afford to lose. If he does, the drumbeat will start and he may not survive. All that progress will go down the drain.

Progress? What progress? Losing 7 in a row ain't progress.

Even not losing- playing this close and this crappy deserves it

I'm not expecting and extension soon after this sorry performance.

Not that I expect Doug to be fired this year, but if he is I think that should be the last we see of NFL coordinators as HC hires.

I don't see how we can go into the ACC with DM still as the coach unless we go on a winning streak and end the season with 7 or 8 wins. If we have a losing record he is done.

I think he dodged a bullet here but we have a long way to go. We can't afford to lose any games we can win. I do not think the fan b ase (what is left of it) will tolerate anything worse than 5-7. If we go 6-6 or better he will get an extension and will deserve it. If not, all bets are off. He has brought the program back from hell but someone else might get to take it to the next level.

Does Marrone give the team the week off leading up to FCS opponents? Seriously.

By all means, set the program back 3 years again. Thank goodness fans don't make these decisions.
So Doug is the only guy that can take this team to glory? If he leaves it all collapses? That's how good he is?

what is it that cant be replaced or improved on HC DM?

We *need* Marrone to be the guy. An alum, who wants to be here (there), at a small, private university. Like I said, it's a perfect storm for SU right now. A little coaching stability will go a long way for the ACC move. He's hasn't been perfect, but imagine if we got a new coach heading into the ACC and he sucked? It would probably take longer to dig out of the bottom than it did with GRob.

Game 3, after a win, and it's like chicken little up in this piece. Can't you people at least wait until the Minnesota outcome? FFS.

Jesus Chr***, it's not like he's Schiano or Chryst losing to d-1AA. As bad as we've played lower level teams, the only one I was sketchy about at half was rhode island. Marrone was leaving points off the board taking chances most here have wanted him to take.

I have no issue with job marrone is doing at high level (except special teams),but for the love of god can we stop talking about contract extension?

Hunh?

That Marrone is an alumn is of 0 consequence. this line of thinking in defending Marrone is a logical fallacy.

If SU sucks in the ACC, it won't suck less if an alumn is who guides us to the suckage.

Uhhh. He's an alum, meaning he's less likely to bail for a better job, like an Edsall, Kiffin, etc. replacement would...

Coaches a revolving door.

Coaches bounce between jobs ALL THE TIME. There are, what, at least 1,500 coaching jobs available between DI and college? There's plenty of opportunities and plenty of changes. That's not a phenomenon unique to Syracuse. And besides, we've had the same O and D coordinators for the last three seasons. That's the kind of stability we need.
