Welcome to Lost Sock Memorial Day!

It’s inevitable – for every load of laundry you sort through, there are odd socks.

Over time, you may even find that you end up with entire drawers and storage boxes filled with odd socks. But worry not! Lost Sock Memorial Day is all about commemorating the other (lost) halves of the pairs of socks which are still with us. Here’s to their memory.

What Would Syracuse Get in Omer Yurtseven? (TNIAAM; Carey)

Syracuse received a visit this week from 7-foot Turkish center Omer Yurtseven. Yurtseven is a very versatile prospect that will be able to offer the Orange a bunch of things if he decides to take his talents to the hill

On Wednesday, we found out that Syracuse received a visit from seven-foot center Omer Yurtseven. This is major news for Syracuse who needs to pick up another big man in the class of 2016. Former target, Cheickna Dembele, chose UNLV and Taurean Thompson only knows what his top three schools are.

Yurtseven is an exceptional prospect that has an extremely high ceiling. As a 17-year old playing in the Turkish Leagues, Yurtseven was projected to be the No. 14 overall pick in the 2017 NBADraft by DraftExpress.com. The physically imposing center played for the team Turkey in the FIBA U18 European Championships. Yurtseven averaged 9.8 points per game and 8.7 rebounds in nine games.

Yurtseven turned down a multi-year contract from Turkish team Fenerbahce in hopes of playing college ball in the United States. Yurtseven had been playing for Fenerbahce, but was not using money that they put in a bank account the club set up for him. When Yurtseven turned down the contact, Fenerbahce's head coach claimed that he had been using that money. A rule exists that states if he takes money from a professional team, he is not eligible for college basketball. That is where the waters get murky for Yurtseven, and his situation appears to be similar to former Kentucky big man, Enes Kanter.

"It is correct that they put money into an account that they opened up in my name, but I didn't want it or ask for it."

Yurtseven also said that he and his family have not taken "a dime" from the account nor has he ever signed any type of a contract with the team.

What Will Syracuse's Starting Lineup Look Like in the 2016-17 Season? (the juice; Cheng)

What will Syracuse’s starting lineup look like in the 2016-17 season? There’s a lot of combinations that the Orange could have next season.

First off, Syracuse loses its starting backcourt of Trevor Cooney and Michael Gbinije. It may lose another starter depending on how Malachi Richardson fares in the NBA Combine, which may lead to him leaving Syracuse after his freshman season.

For argument’s sake, let’s say that Richardson chooses to leave. That would mean that Syracuse has two returning starters from last season: Tyler Roberson and Dajuan Coleman. Of those two, Roberson is the only one that is shoo-in to start.

Though Coleman was definitely effective at times last season, it was clear that he was a defensive liability, and Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim lamented many times that he wish he had more of a defensive stopper on the back line.

That stopper could be Paschal Chukwu, a 7-2 center that figures to work perfectly into SU’s vaunted 2-3 zone. Generally, Boeheim doesn’t like to pull starters out of the lineup, even with a more viable option on the bench. So I would still give the nod to Coleman, based on seniority alone.

Based on that, we have:

C: Coleman
F: Roberson

Brewery Ommegang, the Belgian-style beer company in Cooperstown, had a huge night Friday as the 2016 World Beer Cup awards were announced in Philadelphia.

Ommegang took home the title of World Champion in the category of "mid-sized brewery," along with three medals for individual beers. World Champions were also honored in the categories of very small, small and large breweries, and large and small brewpubs.

The World Beer Cup contest was presented in conjunction with the annual Craft Brewers Conference and BrewersExpo America, held this week in Philadelphia.
