Welcome to Thoughtful Thursday!

Thoughtful Thursday is the perfect time to be mindful of those around you, at home, work and in public, who may have thoughts, concerns, or needs which you may not be aware of. Try a little harder to break free of your own busy world and try to be more aware of other people’s feelings! It’s a wonderful thing when you can be more thoughtful and considerate towards others. It is quite a gratifying experience.

Boeheim commits heinous crime of telling the truth (TNIAAM; Keeley)

Honestly, this non-story is so boring to me that it's barely worth wasting much effort on. As part of his post-Olympics discussions about winning gold and the legacy of Carmelo Anthony,Syracuse Orange head coach Jim Boeheim was talking about how Melo might be remembered if he's never part of an NBA Championship team.

"He's unlikely to win an NBA title,'' Boeheim said. "He's never been on a team that even had a remote chance of winning an NBA title. As a player, all you can do is try to make your team better and every team he's been on he's made them a lot better. Denver hadn't done anything prior to him getting there and he took them into the playoffs. They weren't going to beat the Lakers or the Spurs. In those years, they won the championship most of the time."

First off, let's acknowledge that Boeheim was effusively praising his former player for the entirety of that press conference.

Second, what is wrong with that paragraph?

It's true, isn't it? It is unlikely that Carmelo Anthony, as a member of the New York Knicksor otherwise, will ever win an NBA Championship. Other than Derrick Rose, does anyone think the Knicks are going to overcome LeBron's Cavaliers and Durant & Steph's Warriorsthis season? Or any season?

4 Star SG Robby Carmody to Visit Syracuse This Weekend (dispatch.com; Jardy)

With the full student body now on campus, the Ohio State coaching staff is working on adding a few future Buckeyes. Tuesday, Ohio State offered a scholarship to Justin Ahrens of Versailles, Ohio, a member of the class of 2018.

Then they offered a scholarship to Mars (Pa.) Area shooting guard Robby Carmody, also a member of the class of 2018 -- and Ahrens’ AAU teammate. Like Ahrens, Carmody said he was surprised but pleased by the scholarship offer from head coach Thad Matta.

“It was great,” Carmody told The Dispatch today. “You never really get used to it, (being offered). (Matta) just said, ‘You’re a player that we feel fits here, and we’d like to offer you a scholarship to play here.'"

ESPN ranks the 6-foot-4, 185-pound Carmody as a four-star prospect and the No.47 overall recruit in the class of 2018. 247Sports ranks him the No.2 overall prospect from Pennsylvania and the No.17 shooting guard prospect in the country.

Ohio State is Carmody’s 11th scholarship offer. The Buckeyes offered two weeks after Michigan did while also hosting him for an unofficial visit. Next up is an unofficial visit to Syracuse this weekend.

He doesn’t have a list of top schools yet but is hoping to make a decision before his senior season. Asked what he’s looking for in a school, Carmody said, “Somewhere that has really good academics, somewhere that my parents can get to see me play a number of times and somewhere where I feel I’m going to have the best opportunity to make an impact on the team because of the style they play.”

Maine-Endwell beats Kentucky, advances to U.S. final of Little League World Series (PS; Kramer)

Unbeaten Maine-Endwell pushed across three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to claim a wild 13-10 win over Kentucky and advance to the U.S. title game of the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

Maine-Endwell (3-0) will take on the winner of a game Thursday night between Kentucky and Tenessee. If Maine-Endwell wins that contest, it will move on to the overall title game against an international opponent on Sunday. A squad from Latin America has already qualified for one of the spots in Saturday's international title game.

Mid-Atlantic winner Maine-Endwell drilled 14 hits and scored at least two runs in every inning to fight off Great Lakes champion Kentucky, which scored two runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 10-10.

Jude Abbadessa went 5-for-5 for the winners, delivering six RBI, a homer and two doubles. Conner Rush and Jack Hopko each drove in a pair of runs for Maine-Endwell.

As a relief pitcher, Abbadessa, llowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.
