Welcome to National Buy a Musical Instrument Day!

Each year on May 22 we observe National Buy a Musical Instrument Day. The day is all about playing music. If you are a musician, it might be time for a new instrument. Maybe you can learn to play a second or third one. If you have never played an instrument before, National Buy A Musical Instrument Day might be the motivation you need to start.

National Buy a Musical Instrument Day is not just for school-aged children. This observation is for people of all ages. Grandpa can play his ukelele while the grandkids play the drums, trombone, and flute. Together they can all make terrific music!

30 Minutes in Orange Nation (espnsyracuse.com; podcast; Steve and Seth)

On today’s show Steve and Seth give an update on Tyus Battle at the NBA combine. No official news but they relay speculation from a national ESPN reporter. They also talk about the ACC expansion proposal and why it could be a good, or bad idea.

Syracuse Basketball: Osun Osunniyi is headed to St. Bonaventure (itlh.com; Esden Jr)

One of the last dominos to fall for the Syracuse basketball program finally has. ITLH breaks down the Osun Osunniyi news and what it means.

There were some rumblings early this week that perhaps the favorite to land Osun Osunniyi was St. Bonaventure, not the Syracuse basketball squad. I guess they knew something.

It seemed like that speculation was entrenched around the idea that Osunniyi would get more playing time with the Bonnies sooner than he would with the Orange.

For those who don’t know, Osunniyi is a 6-foot-10, 185 pounds center prospect out of Putnam Science Academy. He was primarily recruited by Gerry McNamara, per 247 Sports.

While he isn’t a huge recruit nationally, he has been floating under the radar. Here’s how he slipped through the cracks:
“Osunniyi committed to LaSalle a year ago. He then decided to spend a prep school year at Putnam to add some bulk to his slender frame. LaSalle coach John Giannini was fired in March after which Osunniyi rescinded his commitment and asked for his release from the school”, per Syracuse.com.

Syracuse Basketball: Tyus Battle ‘likely’ to remain in NBA Draft (itlh.com; Esden Jr)

Syracuse basketball star Tyus Battle seems ‘likely’ to remain in the 2018 NBA Draft. ITLH breaks down the rumors and reports.
Well we finally have some news on Syracuse basketball star Tyus Battle from a reliable source. Basketball Insider Adam Zagoria joined The Manchild Show with Boy Green to talk Tyus Battle and other NBA topics.

In that conversation he revealed that it seems close to a done deal that Battle is heading to the NBA.

“Tyus Battle, the Syracuse sophomore wing and former New Jersey prep star, will “likely” remain in the NBA Draft, a source close to the situation told ZAGSBLOG.”

According to the report, Battle worked out for the Los Angeles Clippers and received ‘positive feedback’ this past week. Within this next 10 days and change (May 30th at midnight) Battle can and will workout for other NBA teams (four more workouts are already scheduled with unnamed teams).

One NBA Scout told Adam this on Battle’s NBA Draft Stock:
“It’s hard to gauge [where he might get drafted]. Off of his play at Syracuse, probably mid- to late-second but there’s a lot of knowledgeable basketball people that seem to believe he’s a much better player than he’s shown at Syracuse.”
