Welcome to National Blueberry Pancake Day!

It’s National Blueberry Pancake Day! Blueberry pancakes are a wonderful treat to enjoy anytime of the day. They are nutritious enough to eat for breakfast, tasty enough for a mid-day snack, and easy enough to make for dinner.

To make blueberry pancakes, mix up a batch of your favorite plain pancake batter. Wash the blueberries, pat them dry, and keep them in a separate bowl. Once you've poured the batter onto the griddle, drop a few blueberries on top. This will ensure that your blueberries aren’t bruised during the cooking process and will be perfect bursts of flavor when you bite into your pancake.

Make a delicious batch of pancakes, top them with a little blueberry maple syrup, and celebrate National Blueberry Pancake Day!

What is Syracuse's Path to the NCAA Tournament? (the juice; Stechschulte)

A lot can change in three weeks.

Three weeks ago, Syracuse was flailing at 0-3 in ACC play after losing in overtime to Clemson and Jim Boeheim was reacquainting himself with his team. Now, the team has won three of four to climb to 3-5 in conference play and 13-8 overall with a win over a ranked Duke team added to their resume.

In fact, hopes seem to have shifted from “hopefully, they’ll get to host an NIT game” to “maybe they can get an NCAA bid after all”. And this change seems pretty legitimate when you do some digging into the numbers.

In Monday’s Bracketology at ESPN.com, Joe Lunardi has the Orange creeping toward an NCAA bid. The team just made the cut in his “next four out” group last week, meaning they were the eighth-best team not in the bracket at that time. Add on a road win at Duke and a road loss at Virginia and SU has crept up to the front of that “next four out” group, meaning they are the fifth-best team looking in.

Syracuse vs Notre Dame: 5 Things to Watch (PS; photo gallery; Waters)

After playing its last three games on the road, the Syracuse Orange returns to the Carrier Dome at 7 p.m. Thursday (ESPN2) for a game against Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish (14-5 overall, 5-2 ACC) have won four in a row. Syracuse, meanwhile, is still recovering from its 0-4 start to conference play. The Orange is 13-8 for the year and 3-5 in the ACC. This will be the only regular season meeting between the two former Big East rivals.

Michael Gbinjie Excelling for Orange (bnd.com; AP)

With one simple remark after losing to North Carolina, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim paid the ultimate compliment to Michael Gbinije when asked whether Gbinije was tired at the end of the game.

"He's not coming out" of games during crunch time, Boeheim said.

As his final college season enters its stretch run, the fifth-year graduate student is in a good place at last. He has gone from bench warmer at Duke to go-to guy for the Orange (13-8, 3-5 ACC). At the midpoint of the conference season, Gbinije was averaging 17.4 points and logging an average of nearly 38 minutes a game, both tops on the team.

"The game became a lot easier," said Gbinije, who has scored in double figures in 22 straight games, tops in the ACC. "My IQ has gotten a lot better. I'm playing more confident, having more fun."

Five years ago, Gbinije was a high school star for Virginia powerhouse Benedictine and opted to play for coach Mike Krzyzewski at Duke. But after too much watching — he saw action in only eight conference games and scored just 33 points his entire freshman season — Gbinije decided to transfer and chose Syracuse.

Wegmans Turns 100: All Stores to Host Anniverary Parties This Weekend (photo gallery; PS; Healy)

In 1916, John and Walter Wegman opened the Rochester Fruit & Vegetable Co., with the help of their parents. A century later, their store has become one of the most beloved places in Upstate New York.

Wegmans announced on Wednesday that it will be hosting parties in all stores to celebrate its 100th anniversary. All locations will observe the milestone at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 30.

During the Wegmans-wide celebration, a new portrait of Robert Wegman will be revealed. Each store will be serving cake that is decorated based on the store's location. All customers are welcome to the cake.

Employees will wear 100th anniversary uniform shirts with a new logo that will appear on some Wegmans products, including gift cards, reusable bags and reusable coffee mugs, the Democrat & Chronicle says. Additionally, anniversary editions of Menu magazine will be available for sale.
