Sacagawea, the daughter of a Shoshone chief, was born circa 1788 in Lemhi County, Idaho. At around age 12, she was captured by an enemy tribe and sold to a French-Canadian trapper who made her his wife. In November 1804, she was invited to join the Lewis and Clark expedition as a Shoshone interpreter. She was the only woman on the expedition and served as a symbol of peace. After leaving the expedition, she died at Fort Manuel in what is now Kenel, South Dakota, circa 1812.

Doug Marrone gets new job; Scott Shafer next? (TNIAAM; Keeley)
The running theory for some time now is that when Gus Bradley was fired as head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Doug Marrone would be elevated from Assistant HC/OL Coach to the head role. Well, Bradley was fired over the weekend and the Jags have announced Marrone as his interim replacement to little surprise.

It would’ve been super awkward if Hackett had gotten the nod over Marrone but it seems logical that Nate was promoted to OC because that’s his best role while Marrone was passed over there because he makes more sense here.
Meanwhile, Marrone’s former DC and eventual replacement at Syracuse, Scott Shafer, appears to be back in the mix for a new job next season. You might remember Shafe quickly took the DC role at Maryland after his Syracuse stint but then left early in the preseason for personal reasons.
CoachingSearch.com (via Syracuse.com) says Shafer is "in the mix for multiple defensive coordinator positions.”
Shafer spent the 2016 season watching son Wolfgang play at Ithaca and also acting as a consultant on that team’s head coaching search. It’ll be interesting to see where he ends up, if he does indeed come back to coaching. Shafer certainly proved himself as a DC and has the pedigree to take on a lot of potential jobs.

DeWitt police nab car thieves, recover over $1,000 in items stolen days before Christmas (PS; O'Toole)
Less than a week before Christmas, DeWitt police arrested two men accused of stealing more than $1,000 worth of items from homes in the Genesee Hills area in DeWitt.
William R. Cronk Jr., 21, of North Syracuse, and Gregory O. Stone, 22, of East Syracuse, were charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
Cronk and Stone are accused of rummaging through parked cars starting around 1 a.m. Monday, police Capt. John J. Anton said. They stole cash, electronics and credit cards, which police recovered, Anton said. Police estimated the total value of the items was more than $1,000.
A woman who spotted the men early Monday called 911 to report two suspicious people in the Genesee Hills area, Anton said. Police responded and found two men matching the description of the suspicious individuals near the intersection of Haddonfield Drive and Lansdowne Road, Anton said. The men, later identified as Stone and Cronk, were arrested at 2:40 a.m.
Stone and Cronk were issued appearance tickets and are scheduled to answer the charges at a later date in DeWitt Town Court, police said.
