National Fruitcake Day celebrates the rock hard, fruit filled holiday cake. While fruitcake was popular in the 40's and 50's, we are not sure if anyone has ever eaten this weighty, gooey, sugar laden cake.
Scientists have been unable to penetrate deeply into a fruitcake, and therefore, have failed to uncover its exact composition. Its density has also hampered their ability to use carbon dating to identify the age of a fruitcake. Unconfirmed rumors suggest that some fruitcake are hundreds of years old.

Boston College wins Quick Lane Bowl in unlikely offensive battle (ESPN; Moyer)
The 2016 Quick Lane Bowl will be remembered as the offensive showcase nobody saw coming.
Boston College eventually came out on top 36-30, but the game as a whole proved to be an entertaining offensive matchup.
Entering the bowl, however, it was believed to be an inevitable defensive battle.

Syracuse police rush to Destiny USA for large fight; mall entrances blocked (PS; O'Toole)
A large brawl broke out in a second-level corridor at Destiny USA in Syracuse as the mall was closing Monday night, authorities said.
Shoppers described a chaotic scene with dozens of people fighting shortly before 9:30 p.m. Monday. Syracuse police responded to the fight in the corridor next to the Villa clothing store in the mall, according to 911.
There were no injuries reported, 911 dispatchers Some shoppers said security would not let customers into the mall after the fight and that entrances to the mall were blocked Monday night. One mall employee said the front entrance to Destiny USA was closed after the fight.
