Welcome to 404 Day!

A 404 (pronounced "four oh four") message is a computer error message that indicates a web server was communicated with, but the server was unable to find what was requested. These messages are often accompanied by the phrase "not found." Information is usually unable to be found because links are broken or dead, meaning the pages have been moved or deleted. Web servers often create custom 404 pages that contain a description, a site's branding, and humor. 404 Day fittingly takes place on the fourth day of the fourth month of the year.

Jadar Johnson struggled with depression, slept on former Clemson teammate's couch leading up to arrest (thestate.com; Connolly)

About seven months before Jadar Johnson and C.J. Fuller were two of the three men arrested in an armed robbery, Fuller was working to help Johnson recover from one of the most challenging situations of his life.

Johnson, a former safety at Clemson, was depressed and sleeping on the Clemson running back’s couch after abruptly retiring from pro football last July during the New York Giants training camp.

But thanks in part to Fuller's help, Johnson was at Clemson’s Pro Day March 15, working out for NFL teams in an effort to return to the football field.

Virginia Tech football 2018 spring roster review: defensive backs (gobblercountry.com; Manning)

No position on Virginia Tech’s roster is facing more change than the secondary in 2018. Gone are multi-year starters in Terrell Edmunds, Brandon Facyson and Greg Stroman. Senior cornerback Adonis Alexander flirted with the NFL Draft, but wisely chose to return to Blacksburg for his senior season. The Hokies are certainly happy Alexander is back, too.

Spring Football Practice Report: April 3 - Boston College

For the first time this spring, Boston College was able to practice outside at Alumni Stadium on Tuesday. The sun-drenched, two-hour practice was the first for the Eagles in a week after Easter break.

Now back for his second stint at defensive coordinator at Boston College, Jim Reid heads into his third year on the sideline with a group mixed with talent across all three levels of the defense.

"I think we've made a lot of progress this spring," said Reid. We've got a couple of injuries, have guys that are basically out for the entire spring. We've had a lot of great repetition and we've had guys get reps who normally wouldn't get as many reps as they're getting so that's going to help us a lot with our depth. It's going to be terrific. The guys are playing hard, physical, disciplined, Boston College football. It's been fun to watch them develop."

Reid knows how important building the depth is with several first-team defenders being held back this spring while they recover from various injuries.

"Let's take a look at our linebacker situation last year," Reid said. "We lost Connor (Strachan), John (Lamot) and Max (Richardson). We had to go to see the third-team tailback who then became one of our better linebackers (Davon Jones). It's unbelievably important that these guys develop. You look at is as a real positive. They're working hard, they're being coached hard. It's really been fun."

How one architecture firm shaped the face of Syracuse University (DO; Krawczyk)

Walking from one Syracuse University building to another is like walking between generations.

Crouse College is a towering Richardsonian Romanesque, built in 1889 and still an iconic piece of SU’s skyline today. Just a few steps away is the hulking Brutalist facade of Bird Library, which didn’t open until nearly a century later in 1972.

The now-demolished Hoople Building, South Campus’ Manley Field House, several residence halls and a handful of academic buildings all came in between. Yet as diverse as these buildings are, they all stem from the same place: King + King Architects.

The firm is New York state’s oldest — the third oldest in the United States — and has taken on more than 40 projects for SU. It celebrated its 150th year in business at SU on Thursday, cutting the ribbon on the redesigned and renamed King + King Architecture Library in Slocum Hall.

That long history means it’s hard to define what a King + King building looks like, said Kirk Narburgh, CEO and managing partner of the firm. Crouse doesn’t exactly look like DellPlain Hall or the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center, but those differences aren’t obvious within the firm.
