SU Football Heads to Fort Drum 'The Coaches Will Not Coddle Them" (PS; Mink)
Syracuse is headed to Fort Drum to continue training camp at the military base for the rest of the week.
This is the third year the team has traveled to Fort Drum, where it incorporates military training exercises around its on-field practice work.
Head coach Scott Shafer said 12 drill sergeants will oversee small groups of about six or seven players, ensuring they report on time for bed check and breakfast.
"The coaches will not coddle them," Shafer said. "The sergeants of each group will take care of that."

Cordell Hudson may have gotten his welcome-to-college football moment Saturday when senior running back Adonis Ameen-Moore bulldozed the freshman cornerback in Syracuse's Fan Fest scrimmage on Saturday.
"I told Cordell (afterward), 'Look, you're allowed to go low on that guy,'" SU head coach Scott Shafer said with a laugh on Monday. "'Any time a guy has more than 100 pounds on you, go low on his butt.'"
Hudson is one of three freshman corners that are competing for the fourth cornerback slot, along with Antwan Cordy and Juwan Dowels. With Brandon Reddish, Julian Whigham and Wayne Morgan all established veterans, the trio of first-year players and recently converted wide receiver Corey Winfield are all battling it out for the remaining playing time.

Nick Robinson (68) Has a Sprained Foot
SU Football Notes: Nick Robinson Sprains Foot; No Timetable for Alin Edouards to Return to Team (PS; Bailey)
Add redshirt junior guard Nick Robinson to the list of Syracuse players nursing minor injuries.
Robinson sprained his foot in practice last week week, SU head coach Scott Shafer said on Monday, and the staff will be careful bringing him back.
Robinson did not play in the Fan Fest scrimmage on Saturday or participate in practice on Monday.
"We're going to be extremely cautious with that," Shafer said. "Nick was playing the best football of his life up until this point, and his effort on the field was really high. So I feel good about where he is knowing the football and that sort of thing, but I want to do a good job of getting him to Villanova."

SU Frosh DB Naesean Howard Suspended Indefinitely, Will Miss Fort Drum Trip (PS; Mink)
Freshman defensive back Naesean Howard has been suspended indefinitely for a violation of "training rules," head coach Scott Shafer announced Monday morning.
Howard, a West Genesee High School product, will not travel with the football team to Fort Drum this week and will meet with Shafer regarding reinstatement when the team returns.
Howard was the first recruit to commit to Syracuse's 2014 recruiting class. He grew up in Syracuse and attended many games at the Carrier Dome.

Doug Marrone Says His Relationship with Mike Williams is Better Now Than It Was at Syracuse (PS; Fairburn)
Sometimes all it takes is a little time apart.
Almost five years have passed since Mike Williams quit the Syracuse football teamin Doug Marrone's first season as head coach after breaking curfew. Now, Marrone is again coaching Williams, this time for the Buffalo Bills. Both have NFL experience under their belts, and Marrone has noticed a huge change in the fifth-year receiver.
"He's been outstanding," Marrone said. "He really has. I think, and Mike knows this, I think it’ll be a big transition when we go back to Buffalo for him. I don't think you could have asked for anyone to have had as good of an attitude, worked as hard as he has, have made plays like he has."

QB Michael Brewer, Virginia Tech: The Texas Tech transfer, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining, has yet to claim the Hokies' starting position. But there's little doubt he has an opportunity to win the job in Blacksburg this month.
Virginia Tech received erratic play the last three seasons from the sometimes-dominant, sometimes-mystifying Logan Thomas. A year ago, Hokies quarterbacks threw for 16 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. If Brewer can infuse any sort of stability, let alone efficiency, into the Virginia Tech offense, he and his teammates could find themselves playing for an ACC title in December.
QB Jacoby Brissett, N.C. State: Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren didn't waste any time after last season ended before naming Brissett his starting quarterback. One of two former Florida quarterbacks projected to start in the ACC this season, Brissett sat out last year in accordance with NCAA transfer guidelines.
