Fran Brown Coaching Staff

Gonna be an interesting first year for Fran Brown ...

* does he live up to the broad set of expectations he has set? I personally think he does, the way he laid them out is the way someone does when they want to hold *themselves* accountable (or he's full of it and we are horrible judges of character).

* do we have enough returning players to make a difference in on the field performance? Experience matters in college football.

* are our new players - whether it be by portal or high school commitment - able to make an immediate impact?

* how long can HCFB keep the honeymoon going with us? And how does he react when it ends and the hard work of marriage begins?

I love the hire, I tell everyone about Brown. I’m so glad this is going to be an interesting month - and for once, interesting in a good way

I believe that Coach Brown will make a difference in our program and in the lives of our players!

As far as defensive staff, are we thinking it will look like this:

DC/DTs: Elijah Robinson
DE: Nick Williams
LB: tbd
DB: tbd

In the Rocky Long/White 3-3-5 they had two secondary coaches but it seems like the shift here will be two along the DL?
If so, Im fine with that. D line is important and it affects secondary play. Plus Fran can help with that group if he chooses.

Yeah. I think Robinson will help on DL as well. Fran with secondary, so does he just add a LB coach on D?

ST coach

Offense:
Nixon - OC
Johnson - WR?
Nunzio - TE?
QB?
OL - Addazzio?

Is Redd an actual WR coach just titled Assistant WR coach?

We have five or six positions still to fill, right?
ST
LB
QB
RB (or does Nixon assume that with OC duties?)
OL
WR / TE?

This message board is the only place that I've seen The Dazzler mentioned. Is there any smoke there, or is it just, as Lionel Richie once sang, "wishful thankin'"?

Pretty soon we'll have coaches wearing gear with advertising like a NASCAR driver. Not kidding.

And yet they are always strong in specials

Um... he's staying at A&M through the 12/27 and coaching their bowl game as interim head coach. Presumably coming up to Syracuse the next day? Portal closes on 1/2/24

Ok, I want to believe that.

The portal closing means that kids can no longer enter their name in the portal.

They are free to join teams at any time

Fran brown & erob are at Dj Mcclary’s school in New Jersey who’s a borderline 5 star linebacker
A full court press… If you’ll pardon the mixed metaphor.;)

CBS Sports Coaching Hire grades:

This is a big jump for Brown, going from a position coach to a head coach in a Power Five conference. It's going to be a tall order for Brown to succeed early on, especially in the expanded ACC. However, the New Jersey native is currently ranked as the top recruiter in the nation, according to 247Sports, and finished No. 8 last year. He will help the Orange replenish that roster through high school recruiting and the transfer portal. Grade: B-
