Holy Cross Prediction Thread...

Don McPherson 71
Gordie Lockbaum 22

A feature article on Lockbaum appeared in SI in 1987, portraying him as the epitome of what college athletics is about. The story openly campaigned to try and get him the Heisman. A bunch of people wasted their votes and cast their ballot for him instead of McPherson. This took a significant block of votes from Donnie's base of support in the East, allowing another undeserving athlete, Tim Brown of ND, to win the award.

Lockbaum was a good story and a decent athlete but he would not have started or played for Syracuse or any good college program. What a shame.

Close game, with us pulling away late.

Well, the Notre Dame complex (and other complexes) took it away from Jim Brown too.

I despise Gordie Lockbaum as well as the one year only determination that all purpose yards decides the Heisman.
