Louisville wanted to put this away early, Jackson's a mutant, and we didn't have enough to stop it from happening.
I'm very encouraged by a few things. First, that we did have moments where we put them on their heels. I'm fairly certain that we put up some more points if not for some opportunistic cramping by Louisville. We played a much more talented team, and I think this game reinforces that we have some obvious talent gaps and are still learning how to play a new style of football.
Second, even though things went off the rails at the end, the ability to score kept is in striking distance, in spite of Louisville going bananas on us to start the game. That was an engaging game.
Third, we saw some guys make legitimate plays. I like the emphasis that's clear on ripping the ball out on defense, and a lot of what we're doing on offense is sound strategically, the execution just isn't quite there yet. That's going to come. Looks like we wore ourselves out.
Anyway, no need to wave the white flag. A bowl game is very much in reach. As much as Louisville is morally bankrupt they do have very good coaches and they have a crazy talent at QB. I know some people are flipping out over the defense, but you know what? If it actually still is bad, the crappy teams we play with crappy offenses aren't going to roll up big point totals on it. That's not how they want to play or what they're trying to accomplish. I'm very optimistic that even though we aren't quite ready to run with the big dogs, we're more than capable of playing winning football against most of the rest of our schedule.
In conclusion, I'll see Bobby Petrino in Hell.
