Because he's a Freshman and wasn't good enough. The sense of entitlement in college bball is getting out of hand. Find me the kid in Woodys area for recruiting rankings that played sig minutes this year.
He really was good enough if you watched him play. He was far better than the griffin we saw finish the year. I thought he was better than bras as well

Woody was getting decent minutes, right up until the Buffalo COVID pause.

Do you think that might have something to do with it?
It definitely has something to do with it...but supposedly there's a little more to it then just that. (According to some on here so who knows?) It's all fun to talk about and who really knows the ins and outs but he seemed like he got the JB doghouse treatment. Or maybe its as simple as what you say, Covid hit and Braswell jumped him in rotation and Woody was never able to get those minutes back once Braswell took advantage of his minutes.

Here's a list of PGs currently in the portal. Compiled by a Florida fan site, but still an interesting list to get us started, if KR were to leave,

MARCUS CARR (MINNESOTA)

Wherever he lands, Marcus Carr will be on his third program. Originally from Canada, he played high school ball at Montverde Academy here in Florida. He’s a talented player that started 27 of 31 games at Pitt as a freshman. He transferred to Minnesota as a sophomore and sat out a year, then started 60 of the 60 games he played in during the last two seasons. All three years he played he averaged double-figure scoring and last year for the Golden Gophers he averaged 19.4 points. I like his 2:1 assist/ turnover ratio and he had a little higher numbers there in his first year at Minnesota where he had 6.5 assists and 2.6 turnovers per game. That year he set the all-time assist record at Minnesota with 207. He was an AP First-Team All-B1G Conference honoree after this season. He’s got a sturdy build going 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds. He will be highly sought after.

FATTS RUSSELL (RHODE ISLAND)

The best name on the board, the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native was a star for the Rhode Island Rams. The 5-foot-11, 165 pounder was All-Atlantic 10 in each of the last two seasons while posting a 2:1 assist/ turnover ratio and averaging 4.5 assists this past season. In 2019-20 he averaged 18.8 points per game and this year that number dropped to 14.7. He averages a solid 40.9% from the field while not overly productive from three-point range hitting on just 28.1% in his career with that dropping to 23.5% this past season. He’s an excellent defender and averaged 2.9 steals per game in 2019-2020. And at his size he averaged a very nice 4.5 rebounds per game this past season.

KELLAN GRADY (DAVIDSON)

The portal usually has a lot of players in it that are looking to move up because they have had big seasons where they are at and want to play a higher level of basketball even though Davidson is a good basketball program. Without quoting him, that seems to be the case for senior Kellan Grady. Grady is a scorer, putting up 17.1 points per game in 2020-21. He has a 3:2 assist to turnover ratio which is better than anyone the Gators had this past season. From Boston, Massachusetts, Grady is listed at 6-foot-5 and 205 pounds which is really good size for the position. He is expected to be a hot commodity on the portal trail this offseason and is already immediately eligible to play next year.

JUSTIN POWELL (AUBURN)

There is a lot to like here with Justin Powell, but the big unknown comes in the fact he didn’t play much at Auburn in his only season. He only played in 10 games in this his freshman season on The Plains because of a concussion against the Texas A&M Aggies. But as a true freshman he started seven of the 10 games he played and averaged 11.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. In his first two starts he averaged 7.0 assists and scored 26 in each of the two games. The 6-foot-6 point guard shot 42.9% from the field and 44.2% from 3-point range. A three-star prospect in high school, Powell was the No. 165 rated prospect in the country.

XAVIER PINSON (MISSOURI)

Xavier Pinson from Chicago, Illinois, started 23 of the 62 games he played in as a freshman and sophomore at Missouri. Pinson started all 26 games for the Tigers in 2020-21. At 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds, he doesn’t have the biggest frame, but has shown he can play in the SEC and at a high level. He averaged 2.9 assists and 2,.9 turnovers last season while scoring 13.6 points He shoots solidly from two (42.6%) and from three (33.6%) Something I saw with only one other official team site was the fact that Pinson was completely removed from the 2020-21 roster.

MYREON JONES (PENN STATE)

Myreon Jones from Birmingham, Alabama started 48 of the 50 games he played in for the Nittany Lions over the last two seasons. While his assist numbers in his sophomore season (3.0 per game) were higher than his junior year (2.0), his scoring went up from 13.3 points per game to 15.3 points per game this past season. He’s averaged 1.3 steals per game in each of the last two seasons. In his career he has averaged 41.4% from the field and a solid 37.6% from beyond the three-point line. At 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds he has pretty good size.

XAVIER JOHNSON (PITTSBURGH)

From Woodbridge, Virginia, Xavier Johnson was a member of the ACC All-Freshman Team in his first year at Pitt where he actually had the highest scoring average of his three years at the school pouring in 15.5 points per game as a rookie. While his scoring has dropped a little, you have to love that Johnson averaged 5.7 assists last year as a junior while turning the ball over 3.3 times a game. He’s 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds and has averaged 3.7 rebounds per game in his three years while also averaging 1.5 steals. He shoots 50.0% from the field, but 32.1% from beyond the arc. He missed two starts this past season and could likely add to the 28.6 minutes per game he averaged to take his numbers even higher. He was one of two players on this list where the official school site removed him from the roster for this past season.

TERRELL BROWN (ARIZONA)

Terrell Brown Jr. from Seattle, Washington, will be at his third school wherever he transfers after starting off at Seattle and then moving on to Arizona last year. He started in 57 of 62 games at Seattle and only 10 of 26 games this past year at Arizona. What I like about the 6-foot-3, 185 pound Brown is that he has a 3:1 assist/ turnover ratio, higher than anyone else on this list. In his last year at Seattle, Brown averaged 20.8 points per game while playing 36 minutes per game for the WAC school. Last year his time on the court dipped to 25.6 and helped lead to the drop in scoring to 7.3 points per game. He averaged 39.0% from the field and the 36.8% from three. Brown is already immediately eligible to play next season.

ISAIAH HILL (FRESNO STATE)

The next stop for Hill will be his third in as many seasons after playing his first year at Tulsa. He started seven of 31 games at Tulsa before starting 23 of 24 games for the Mountain West Conference Bulldogs of Fresno State. He doesn’t have crazy numbers but has a plus assist/ turnover ratio while averaging 3.3 assists per game last year. He shoots at a 40.7% clip and hits on a solid 38.5% from three. He also added 1.3 steals per game to his stat line. He’s 6-foot-0 and 180 pounds and originally from Bakersfield, California, he’s spent all of his time west of the Mason Dixon line.

BREVIN GALLOWAY (COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON)

Brevin Galloway is originally from Anderson, South Carolina. He went down in mid-December with an ACL tear. The College of Charleston senior was averaging 15 points and 2.8 assists before going down with the injury during game four. He’s got a strong build at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds. At that size he averaged 1.5 steals a game in his three-plus seasons. He was an all-conference defensive team player in 2020. He’s averaged 42.2% from the field in his career and 36% from three. He is already eligible to play immediately. I’d like to see a little better assist/ turnover ratio than 2.8: 1.8 but he has some other skills and attributes that could be very helpful.

JAELEN HOUSE (ARIZONA STATE)

From Phoenix, Arizona, Jaelen House never started for the Sun Devils in his two years at the school, but started to really see his minutes and therefore his production increase a good deal down the stretch of this past season. He crossed the 20 minutes per game mark in just one of his first 10 games and had at least 20 in each of his last 10 games in Tempe. The 6-foot-1, 160 pounder hits on 39% of his threes and saw his scoring increase to 5.3 points per game by the end of the year. His assist to turnover ratio isn’t great, but it’s greater than 1:1 so it’s better than what this team had the past season. He’s not on the top of the list, but a possibility.

And I can't bring myself to vote...I honestly don't know anymore. 2 weeks ago I would've said he's 100% coming back. Portal is nutty!

Chris Lykes and I'm sure there's some others...and will be more

He was the 144th ranked freshman and was behind some talented forwards.
Exactly right. If he’s too immature to realize that was the case then fine for him to go and seek out something better. Woody has talent but not worth it if he will be a problem in the locker room. He can go somewhere and try to be the man for a lesser team

Cuse

He was in quarantine for 14 days during training camp, and then another 14 day isolation after the Buffalo game.

Tough on a freshman.

Something changed with him, that's for sure.

How did the vote go? I don't have the heart for it either.

You have waffled from your original post that started all of this. Should have said nothing got people all riled up and worried. Again I will ask you are We Pittsburgh? Finishing bottom of the conference and losing multiple guys in season leaving. No we made the tournament and had a great run to the sweet 16.

Hes not going anywhere he was essentially getting crunch time minutes in the tournament and most of the season as Girard struggled. Woody being unhappy and his roommate if he let's another person's issues influence his decision then he isnt very smart.

Still beating this drum Hulk?

Go on the Pitt forum please...or Rutgers...or Yukon...anywhere else really

Dasher's post started it? Pretty sure the rumblings started before then

I am not sure what’s worse, the free-for-all that is the Transfer Portal, of the Free-for-all that is this board’s obsession with the transfer portal.

Dasher's post started it? Pretty sure the rumblings started before then
There were rumblings before all this, with Woody and Kadary. Dasher’s one of the most credible sources we have and just brings more credence to a situation I think some hoped would improve after the conference tourney and march.
