Kyle Kleinberg has accepted a preferred walk-on position at Syracuse.
Syracuse added another New Jersey prospect to their roster on Thursday, a source told CuseNation.com. Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco middle linebacker Kyle Kleinberg has accepted a preferred walk-on position with the Orange. Kleinberg subsequently confirmed the news.
"I decided to go to Syracuse because of the amazing program that they have and they were always my dream school growing up," Kleinberg said. "I had other Full rides from D1AA schools but felt it was the best option for me to go to such an amazing school like Syracuse."
Don Bosco may sound familiar to Syracuse fans. Not only is it one of the better high school programs in New Jersey, but it is also the home of current defensive back commit Daivon Ellison. It is never a bad thing to continue to develop a pipeline with a school that regularly produces division one talent, even if in a walk-on capacity. That will only strengthen the relationship between primary New Jersey recruiter Bobby Acosta and the Don Bosco coaching staff.
"This is dope," Ellison said via text. "We're talking all about 'Cuse!"
Kleinberg held offers from Maine, Dartmouth and Yale, but opted to join a power five division one program despite it being without a scholarship. He is listed at 6-foot-1, 230 pounds and runs a 4.6 40-time. He joins a young and talented linebacker corps at Syracuse, which now has even more depth. Kleinberg added that he will enroll at Syracuse over the summer.
