I have been working on some updates to my historical database. here is a link to the game search page

My database

Its written in flash so its a bit more dynamic than the older pages.. Its somewhat large and only been tested on firefox and some versions of IE.. Chrome is a bit buggy and does not play well with this version of flash. You may need to widen the browser window to see it work

The box scores go back to 1947
The syracuse/opp player stats go back to 1953

Every Su game is in the database

The opp game database goes back to about 1982. box scores for every ncaa div 1 game.

try it out, send ideas, thoughts. I am still throwing new stuff into it.

I have a roster search screen back to 1889, a searchable record book back into the 50's , a searchable scoring database back to around 1947 which people can view as well. if people want to see them let me know.

I have some other features to be added soon

Nice. I dig the interface.

FYI, it comes up fine for me in firefox, but not in Safari. I'm on a mac.

that database is awesome, i used to use it all the time for a variety of stuff when you 1st brought it to our attention here, but my question is...how do i find it now?

it used to be on the drop down menu on scowt, now how?

thanks.

the address to the site is in the link from the thread i started.. they blocked the old server so I just put it up on a new one. the link on the drop down is blocked

here are the new URLs for my new server
http://upperdecksu.net/su/roster-year_new.cfm
http://upperdecksu.net/su/game_search_new.cfm the game search
http://upperdecksu.net/su/record_book_new.cfm my record book search
http://upperdecksu.net/su/roster-year_new.cfm my roster search
http://upperdecksu.net/su/score_results_new.cfm every scoring play search

i dont have a way to test safari but my plan is to probably port it to more html5 friendly code so it will be happier with IPad and mobile devices.

Are you a developer? I noticed that it's done in coldfusion.

I ask because we've always developed in coldfusion and are heading toward php due to the lack of support and decline in use.

We are still all coldfusion. I think the influx of programmers wanting to do their own thing is pushing to stuff like PHP.. plus coldfusion is so expensive compared to the free stuff.

We are being asked to look at alternatives so we may go down the YII road soon.. Anything to avoid Java coding

I can do this, busy at work right now but look for some links tonight.

upperdeck, would you consider creating a front end page that contains all the specialized links you create to query the database? I would prefer to link to one central page rather than a whole bunch. That way, as you continue to add features, you can maintain the front end page as needed and not need to let us know to make updates.

Make sense to you?

This is a terrific resource and I really want to make it easy to find and use...

sure no problem.. I will create something and send you the link.

Hey now.

Nice. I have had your page as a bookmark for a while now. :)

if people have ideas pass them on.. i have been mostly working the offense stats , but i have a bunch of the D stats I would like to get displayed soon. if people have other searches they would i can see what i can do. it took a long time to come up with the historical things like betting lines but i have more stuff like that i will get to eventually.

I tried getting access to some info but got shot down by SU on a couple other ideas.

Anything I type in "filter by" just disappears when I hit "look for players". How do I get results?

are selecting data first? you need to select data in the upper window, year , name, school what ever you want, then click look for players.. the filter is for after the data is returned you do a dynamic filter

so for example, choose a year, them select look for players.. then when the roster shows up you can filter the results by class or state without reselecting the players..

The Upper Window does not appear on Google Chrome. I checked Internet Explorer and Firefox and you can get it there.

The internet is weird. :(:confused::eek::crazy:
