No, that was perfect. It's like when NC State took down The Walton Gang in OT in the 1974 Final Four.

This was EPIC. Not only did first year coach Hubert Davis ruin Duke's Senior Night and K's last game in Cameron; but everyone expected Duke to crush them in revenge, and Carolina beating them twice, in these circumstances, closes out K's career with a black eye from his arch-rival. It takes away a little of this supposed "sainthood" that the media has wrapped around his career.

This will always be the Final Chapter of his coaching story.

That's one of the beautiful things about Duke losing. Wooden went out with a natty in his last year. Of course 10 titles in 12 years with one of the losses in OT in the national semi-final. He stands alone as the GOAT in college hoops.

Eh, it was a different game. I’m always more impressed when current coaches have incredible success. The field has more parity, the completion is tougher, the pressure is more intense. And I said “perhaps”, it’s always debatable.

What’s not debatable is that he’s a pompous ass. That “it’s not acceptable” nonsense in his last regular season game spoke volumes. It’s all about him. Glad he lost.

Wooden won seven titles in a row while going 205-5 in that period. People like to say he won because he had Alcindor and Walton. He won five titles without those guys. He dominated his era like no college hoops coach has ever dominated any era.
