NCAA RPI through March 26

Denver's is going to fall like a rock when they hit Big East play. Gtown and St. Johns have 3 wins combined.

Cornell, Colgate, and Hobart won't be doing much for our RPI. :(

True but we also have to play ND (#1 RPI), the ACC tourney and surprisingly Binghamton who is 8-1 and crushing it in the AE. Though they do have a gauntlet in a few weeks that includes Albany and Syracuse back to back.

How legit is Bingo? Haven't looked at who they have played.

Much better then I would have thought. They have beaten both Hobart and Colgate as well as Delaware on the road. They got back there #1 guy Tom Moore who missed last year due to injury and he has been carrying them putting up some impressive point totals. There next four games are Canisius, Lafayette, Harford and UMBC. They could conceivably be 10-1. The bad news for them is their last three games are home vs Albany, at Syracuse, at Stony Brook in a 9 day span.

The same Deleware that beat Rutgers soundly?

The ACC tourney was set up in part to increase each team's RPI.

I've gotten to the point of wondering just how valuable winning the ACC tourney is. We've won the past two years, but that hasn't helped us in May.

We won last year and still ended up in the 8/9 game.

Where would we have been with two less wins?

Agreeed. Whenever basketball won the Big East tournament it often meant first round loss to a team like Vermont.

If you are curious, here is what the NCAA tournament field would look like based entirely on current RPI rankings

We'll see how they do in conference but wouldn't be surprised if they don't make the field. I think that they are the worst team in the B1G. (Hopkins) that is.

If Army keeps pace but falls just short of winning the Patriot, they will still get in.

The ACC really needs at least one of the following to step up: BCU, FSU, GA Tech, Louisville, NC State.

Who do we think is plausible out of that list? NC State? Maybe FSU or Ga Tech because of their club teams?

NC State had lax in the past. Team had some success, were ranked on occasion and made the postseason in 1979 (lost to JHU). Program disbanded in after 1982 campaign due to monetary considerations.

Seems like Georgia Tech is a viable option from an attractive market. And there's no reason that BC cannot get their act together.

Georgia Tech and NC State, as STEM schools, would stand the best chance Title IX-wise. GA Tech (75% male student body) was #1 in the MCLA at least as of last week. IIRC, VPI has a slim male majority from STEM, but their present Title IX numbers may be close to being right at present and would be thrown off by restarting MLax (they dropped their team in the 80s after we "squeaked past" them 27-0). NC State has a lower male student percentage than GA Tech but it's higher than VPI's. F$U has a Sugar Daddy who will pay for both Lax teams if they can get the Title IX numbers to work. Louavul is another one that would have to get their Title IX numbers to work. One thing that works against VPI, BC, and Louavul in trying to get their future Title IX numbers to balance is they already have WLax teams that they use to balance their present Title IX numbers.
