TEAM STATS

Possession

Rebounding
(Add each team’s offensive rebounds to their opponent’s defensive rebounds. Then figure the offensive rebounds as a percentage of that)
We rebounded 10 of our 34 misses = 29.4%
They rebounded 9 of their 27 misses = 33.3%

Effective Offensive Rebounding
(Divide second chance points by the offensive rebounds)
We got 8 points on 10 O-Rebs = 0.800 points/O-reb
They got 6 points on 9 O-Rebs = 0.667 points/O-reb

Unforced Turnovers
(Total turnovers – the other team’s steals = unforced turnovers)
We had 19 turnovers – 11 steals = 8 unforced
They had 21 turnovers – 9 steals = 12 unforced

Points per Takeaway
(Points off turnovers divided by the number of turnovers the other team had)
We had 18 points from 21 takeaways = 0.857 points/takeaway
They had 16 points from 19 takeaways = 0.842 points/takeaway

Unsettled Situations
(Effective offensive rebounding + Points per Takeaway: [Second Chance Point + Points off Turnovers] divided by [Offensive Rebounds + Opposition Turnovers)
We had 26 points in 31 unsettled situations = 0.839 points
They had 22 points in 28 unsettled situations = 0.786 points

Manufactured Possessions
(One teams rebounds + the other team’s turnovers)
We had 28 + 21 = 49

They assisted 25 of their 30 field goals = 83.3%

Team Offensive Possession Efficiency
(Possessions: Field goals attempted - offensive rebounds + turnovers + 47.5% of free throws attempted. Efficiency is total points divided by possessions)
We scored 62 points in 72 possessions = 0.861 points/ possession
They scored 80 points in 71 possessions = 1.127 points/possession
It was a 143 possession game.

Team Shooting Efficiency

(Points minus missed field goals and free throws)

We scored 62 points, missed 30 field goals and 9 missed free throws = net 23
They scored 80 points, missed 25 field goals and 3 missed free throws = net 52

(Points scored divided by potential points scored if we’d made every shot)

We scored 62 on 31 two point attempts, 20 three point attempts and 24 free throw attempts = 62 of a possible 146 points = 42.5% of possible points scored.

They attempted 33 two point shots, attempted 12 free throws and were fouled 14 times = 2.36; 0.86
We were more likely to get calls when attempting two point shots and got more free throws per foul.

Comments

- Oshae Brissett led in net points for the second straight game and the third time in four games after not leading in the five games before that.

- Only four players scored for Syracuse. Paschal Chukwu, Frank Howard, Marek Dolezaj and Jalen Carey played a total of 57 minutes, attempted 3 field goals and 3 free throws and missed all of them.

- I don’t keep records on this but Frank Howards -9NP might be the lowest I’ve ever recorded. It’s amazing that a player could do 9 bad things that show up in the box score, (2 missed field goals, 3 missed free throws, three turnovers and a foul), with no good things that show up in the box score to offset it. Perfection!

- The quarterly breaks are virtually a palindrome: 10-23, 21-16, 21-16, 10-25.

- Florida State won the points in the paint 18-38 and fast break points 4-29. It makes one long for the good ol’ days.
