CLASS AA
There will be no Section III team in the Dome playing for a a state title for the first time since 2013 as both CBA in Class AA and Whitesboro in Class A went down hard is similar games. CBA was down by only 13-15 at halftime to Section 5’s Victor but got steamrolled 0-27 in the second half for 13-42 final. As has bene the case in the past, the Brothers had plenty of speed but seemed to lack the muscle in the trenches of top teams from other sections. Even when they won the title from New Rochelle in 2004, they were getting beaten in much the same way until Ray Rice got injured and then Greg Paulus was able to amount an amazing comeback. Victor didn’t have a Ray Rice but didn’t need one because they were so dominant in the trenches and CBA had no Greg Paulus.
Victor erupts in second half to crush CBA, advances to Class AA state title game
Section 2’s Troy used three successive late fourth quarter sacks to don Section 1’s New Rochelle 20-14:
Troy football tops New Rochelle for spot in state final
This sets up a final Achilles would love: Tory vs. Victor. Watch out for the gift horse!
CLASS A
Like CBA, Section III’s Whitesboro seemed in good shape at halftime, tied with Section 5’s Greece Athena 14-14. Then came the third quarter. An interceptions and two botched kick-off returns produced three touchdowns in 6 minutes for the Trojan and blew the game open to a 21-41 final:
Whitesboro bounced from Class A state semifinals after third quarter implosion
Section 1’s Somers beat Section 2’s Burnt Hills-Balston Lake 48-24. It was all about big plays. Somers got two 60+ scoring passes and a 52 yard run to blow it open.
H.S. Football: Burnt Hills’ season ends in state semifinal loss to Somers
CLASS B
Section 4’s Chenango Forks continued its march to a fourth straight state title continued with a 41-8 demolition of Section 6’s Dunkirk:
Devilish dominance: Forks a win from another title
Section 2’s Glens Falls had a pleasant day against Section 1’s Pleasantville, winning, 49-14.
Glens Falls downs Pleasantville, heads to Dome
CLASS C
Section 4’s Newark Valley used a big second half to overcome three first half turnovers and advance to the Dome, beating Section 5’s Bishop Kearney, 34-14:
Bishop Kearney loses to top-ranked Newark Valley
Ogdensburg Free Academy became a rare Section 10 team, (they represent the St. Lawrence area) to make it to the state final, beating Section 9’s Burke Catholic 35-28. There are only 5 Class C teams in Section 10 but there are only 4 of them in section 9, which represents the Catskill area., which is why entire section ahs ever produced a state champion in this class.
Burke comes up short in state Class C semifinal
CLASS D
Section 4’s Sydney ran out of miracles vs. #1 ranked Maple Grove of Section 6, losing 20-56, (not far from what might have been their margin of defeat if Onondaga hadn’t twice fumbled the ball into the end zone in the fourth quarter. This game was 42-6 at half time so there was no potential for late-game heroics. However, the Red Dragons suffered some injuries that may limit them in the Dome next week.

Section 2’s Cambridge at 11-0 did figure to have much problem with 3-6 Haldane, a representative of Section1, which has only two Class D teams, and they didn’t, winning 61-6. Now it gets real.
Cambridge mows down Haldane in state semifinal
