Quadir Copeland transferring to McNeese St

I can't get over the fact that Quadir was recruited as a pg and our biggest need right now is a pg. If he just behaved himself off the court and took care of the ball on the court he likely would have the keys to the car right now. Just a horrific missed opportunity.

I think it's not that simple... we needed a point guard and got baby Curly Neil with an attitude...

Hope he sorts himself out and that McNeese can help him do that... but half expecting he's not enrolled there come Fall and he's off to juco cause they couldn't paper-over his incompletes.

Come on in the age of online courses and summer school (very condensed) he can probably get eligible in 2 weeks. Will Wade is the coach and the NCAA is barely clinging onto its existence. He'll be on the court.

Probably wouldn't be an issue at 80-90% of D1 schools either.

Outstanding at what? He literally had not 1 high end skill much less 2

Q finished second in ACC Sixth Man of the Year voting. He also received votes for ACC Defensive Player of the Year, along with Maliq. Yes, he tried to make the flashy play too often and, according to reports, didn’t show respect for the coaches and caused dissension on the team. But he has skills. That’s not in doubt. If he gets himself under control, he can be an elite passer, has elite athleticism, and if he gets his head on right, can get to the rim at will. Maybe he wouldn’t qualify academically or our coaches thought he was too difficult to coach, but that’s a different story.

During the season, his people were also apparently posting crap online about our coaches. He has a lot of bad-influence people in his ear filling his head with crap and saying he’s gonna be a top pick in the draft. So many of these kids listen to the wrong people and surround themselves with bad actors who give them poor guidance.

The P4 D1 schools passed on him... Kansas, NC State, KSU, Miss St., Memphis, etc. Whether grades or fit or both... But the former was certainly a rumored significant issue.

McNeese had a good past season. Another one next season and someone will be desperate enough to hire away Will Wade. Q follows him back to a P4/P5 for his 4th year and maybe he gets a g-league sniff if he makes tremendous personal improvements for 2 years.

I just don’t think Red got that right leaving a player in to get booed by his own fans vs playing someone far better even if he was difficult off the court. Inevitable departure at the end of the yeah sure Devo and Harris weren’t allowed back either for the senior years it happens. Why not start him and see if he behaves?

yeah but it's all part of the equation even some of the most talented employees can't do simple things like show up for work on time or even at all on some days which makes them essentially unemployable in most professions

As I have read here 10,000 times in the past 3-4 weeks, " the market has spoken" It did for Brown and it did for Copeland. I was wrong on both but can't speak to Copeland's issues off the court

It was mean to not take some heat off Taylor and let him come off the bench. The rotation was short handed and he’d already lost most of his minutes to Q. He also knew he was not going to be allowed to return the following season. Just no logic to not making that move.

It was unfortunate that Taylor had to start at the 4 all year as that was never the plan. Benny was supposed to start but messed up big time before the first game and continued to act out until they had to kick him off the team. Q could have earned the starting spot by just doing the regular things expected of all college students but he couldn't meet the most basic requirements of a young adult. That's not even getting into his other behavioral issues or lack of on court discipline.
