Glad to see both the @SyracuseU and @SUOrangeEmpire twitter feeds both mentioned Dajuan Coleman today and committed a violation.

Apparently they don't teach these kids the rules before they run it.

And @SUOrangeEmpire spelled his name Dajaun...

if they spelled his name wrong wouldnt it technically not be a violation?

A similar thing happened with Seton Hall and Kyle Anderson not too long ago. Nothing really came of it, but that doesn't mean it isn't very risky and unprofessional.

@suorangeempire needs to take a chill pill. they tweet every 6 seconds, and it is something completely pointless. Do they really need to have someone tweeting for them every minute of every day? The grammar, spelling and content is horrific and annoying. They need an overhaul on that computer.

do people actually follow that?

I swear it's making humans dumber every day
Like it or not, it's also a great way of getting information and staying in touch with the world, and is a huge tool in sports marketing and media.

Blaming a medium of communication for certain people's stupidity, is pretty stupid. Twitter is a great tool, but like anything else, it is as useful as its user.

But it's doing everyone a disservice if the producers of its content (at least, when it is the mouthpiece of an allegedly professional organization such as our university's athletic department) can't be bothered to use proper grammar or spelling.

That's always bugged me with SU's media guides - they're just as bad as the Post-Standard's content. Clearly never proofed, clearly written by some intern or student who's an abysmal writer but "likes sports" and is trying to make a career out of it without getting the basics down first.

Exactly what I meant to say, but much more succinct.
