Maybe I am a traditionalist but a shovel pass in short yardage situations feels like a dangerous play. Understand that we coverted on the option play toss in another situation. At least that started with a run straight north south.

The idea of going backwards and shoveling forward seems counterintuitive to me. That said it could be a sign that we are trying to use a teams aggressive line play against them. Maybe the coaches see something.

I could be forgetting but it feels like the shovel is more frequent in our offensive game plans this year.

I like shovel passes.

Ours are scary beyond all reason because of how we "execute" them, but I like the concept.

Shovel passes in general can be an effective play. Whatever we are running that looks like a shovel pass is absolutely not effective. I wish that the coaching staff could realistically see that our in-game shovel passes do not work/look the same as pretty much every other team that plays this game (outside of possibly 1st grade flag football teams).

Not a fan of the shovel pass. Lots of teams use them though.
