According to selection criteria, a team cannot play four games at a tournament site otherwise it is considered a "home court". Nova already played at MSG vs St Johns in January and now could play three more games there this week. That would make four games. Does that four game criteria matter if they are regular season or conference tournament? I say boot them out west.

I believe the rules say they must be considered "home" games. Playing St. John's @ MSG or playing in the Big East tourney would not preclude Nova from going to MSG.

Cheers,
Neil

Yeah the rule is to prevent a school who splits their games between arenas to use that in the tourney (like UCONN with Hartford). That's why it's 4+ games and not just "don't use your home court". Because then UCONN would claim Storrs as their home court and be able to play NCAA games in Hartford where they hold half of their games during the season.

One of the many reasons why the Final Four will never come to the Dome.

A few years ago, Nova was placed in the Wells Fargo Center or Wachovia Center or whatever it was called then...... in the middle of Philly... because they cleverly had played one game fewer than the allotted number there. It was kind of a rip off.

And they should have lost to American that year in the opening game, I believe they were down double figures at half.

Pitt did that years ago as well when they played some games at the Igloo.

Teams are aware of this and schedule accordingly in years that have tourney games run through a certain venue. If St Johns ever gets good enough for a deep tourney run in a year that plays through msg it might be the only time that rule is needed.

That and they barely got by the minimum distance from campus rule as well.

Didn't they purposely play a game at the Spectrum before it got closed down that year as well.

What is the minimum distance from campus rule?
Never heard of that one.
However, Temple University "hosted" those games in Philly.
Had Villanova "hosted" - they would have not been allowed to play there.
That will happen next year when Ohio State is hosting games in Columbus - even though they are not at their own on-campus arena.
