So, not sure how many of you have ventured over to the OT Board and saw my thread, but I am doing St Baldricks again this year for the 2nd year and am a little behind in my fundraising goals. To try and boost my numbers a little bit, I had an idea to see if any of this board would be interested (thanks to those who have already helped and contributed).

For anyone who donates even $1 from now until next Friday, Feb. 28th (the event is Sunday, March 1st), I will raffle off the T-shirt (size is large) that they had at the SU-Dule tailgate in Schine this past weekend. Here are the pictures:

As a reminder why this event is so personal to me is because of a family here in Syracuse that are friends with my wife and I. They lost their courageous, beautiful almost 3 year old son, Jack, to cancer just over one year ago. I can't imagine what they went through and continue to go through each and every day since. This is my small way to honor that brave young man and his wonderful family. Thanks for considering.

Kudos to you. I'm extremely proud of my 13 year old daughter who shaved her head and raised money last year for the cause. Keep up the great work.

Thanks OROrange, but the real kudos should go to shavees like your daughter. As I told family/friends last year, I'm fortunate my hair grows back pretty quickly, but I was so impressed when women did it or kids who this is a lot more of a big deal. I'm just happy to play some small part and do what I can. What was truly humbling was when the mother of the boy who passed told me that I was an inspiration to her to do a St. Baldricks event last summer. That put everything into perspective and speaks volumes to the amazing person she is.

This is why I hope some of you consider donating to this cause.

"All types of of childhood cancers combined receive only 4% of US federal funding for cancer research."

"About 60% of all funding for drug development in adult cancers comes from pharmaceutical companies. For kids?Almost none, because childhood cancer drugs are not profitable."

Much thanks to OrangeTown for being the latest person to help out the cause!! I currently have $380 in donations (about 8% of my goal of $5K). Today would have actually been Jack's 4th birthday and I'm dropping off some toys later today to the family as they are doing a toy drive in his honor to give to kids at Golisano Children's Hospital. Love to try and push that number over $1000 today in Jack's honor. Thanks again for considering.

Didn't want to distract from yesterday's big hoops victory, but glad to say that I'm now over the $500 mark (10% of the way with 10 days left). It might not sound like a lot, but it really is. Not sure if anyone saw this on the Channel 3 news, but here was how Jack's parents and my friends spent their late son's birthday yesterday -- giving back.

Boxes of toys donated to children at Upstate Cancer Center in honor of special little boy

This is just a small part of what makes that family so special and why I continue to do what I can to honor the life of Jack.

Finally over $1000 raised with 4 more days to go. Remember any one who pledges $50 or more is eligible to win the autographed SU basketball. Good news there, chances are good with only 6 eligible donations right now (I ruled out family and myself) and one of those is unlikely to want it. So more like 20% chance of winning as of right now. Everyone who donates is eligible for the Orange t-shirt from the SU-Duke tailgate. Thanks all!!

My time to get shaved is 12:40pm if anyone wants to see it go down at Kitty Hoynes this Sunday.

48 hours til the hair comes off, but also wanted to say that folks have until Midnight tonight if they want to have a shot at the signed SU basketball. $50+ will give you a chance. Thanks all!!

Took me a while but happy to help, though your $50 raffle entry did cause me to alter my traditional $44 donation! Hopefully a pleasant outcome tonight will keep your baldness well warmed tomorrow!
