For all you wondering Drew Allen will be trying out at Cuse also.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse will hold its annual pro day event on Wednesday at Manley Field House.
The event is closed to the public.
Here is a list of players scheduled to work out in front of NFL scouts.
  • Drew Allen
  • Ri'Shard Anderson
  • Jason Bromley
  • Christopher Clark
  • Lewellyn Coker
  • Zian Jones
  • Charley Loeb
  • Keon Lyn
  • Macky MacPherson
  • Jerome Smith
  • Marquis Spruill
  • Beckett Wales
  • Jeremi Wilkes
Some quick thoughts:
1. Jerome Smith will garner a lot of attention after a disappointing showing at the NFL Scouting Combine in February. Smith posted an official time of 4.84 seconds in the 40-yard dash, ranking 30th out of 33 running backs who ran at the combine. Afterward, he said he was "overly anxious and had a bunch of butterflies" before running his 40.
2. Jay Bromley won't do many testing drills after performing well at the combine. He is currently ranked as the 21st-best defensive tackle in the draft, according to CBS Sports. After the combine, Bromley said he didn't think "you can take 10 defensive tackles before me."
3. Drew Allen will be participating in his second pro day after working out at Oklahoma earlier this month. Allen performed well at OU's pro day, posting a 4.68 time in the 40-yard dash. Allen spent the offseason training with former NFL quarterback Jeff Garcia.
4. Keon Lyn and Beckett Wales are coming off season-ending injuries, so it will be interesting to hear how well they perform in testing and on-field drills. Wales broke his collarbone late in the season, while Lyn spent most of the last several months rehabbing his fractured kneecap.
5. Marquis Spruill did not get an invite to the combine, so this is his chance to show off his freakish athletic traits. Spruill is projected as an undrafted free agent.
6. What will Charley Loeb run in the 40-yard dash? Loeb, the team's holder last year, was routinely called the fastest quarterback on the roster.

There were 29 NFL teams in attendance at SU pro day.

Jerome Smith was beaming when he came out. Improved his 40-time to 4.5-4.6 from a bad showing at the NFL Combine.

Will Hicks noted that Macky McPherson helped his cause by showing teams he could be a long snapper. SD Chargers scout spent time with Macky

No NFL GM's were in attendance, though former Orangeman Quentin Harris, now Director of Pro Personnel for the Arizona Cardinals, was there

There were 21 NFL teams represented — a contingent that included a defensive line coach from the Philadelphia Eagles — at Syracuse’s pro day on Wednesday, when 12 players worked out indoors on FieldTurf.
Jason Bromley, DT (6-foot-3 3/8, 307 pounds) — Bromely ran the 40-yard dash in 4.97 and 4.98 seconds. He did the three-cone drill in 7.88 seconds, and stood on the rest of his numbers from the NFL Scouting Combine. Bromley is a very good athlete who moves around really well, but does have a tendancy to play a bit too upright. He is probably a fifth- to sixth-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
Jerome Smith, RB (5-10 3/8, 226) — Smith ran the 40 in 4.74 and 4.71 seconds. He had a 35-inch vertical and 10-foot-3 broad jump. He did the short shuttle in 4.60 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.27 seconds. He also performed 17 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press. Smith moves well and is adept at catching the ball out of the backfield. He could be a late-round draft choice or priority free-agent pickup following the draft.
Marquis Spruill, LB (6-1 1/8, 231) — Spruill ran the 40 in 4.59 seconds on both attempts. He had a short shuttle time of 4.44 seconds and a three-cone time of 7.33 seconds. He had a 34 1/2-inch vertical jump and 9-foot-9 broad jump. He had 21 strength lifts. Spruill is a priority free-agent possibility following the draft.

Sounds like it was a good day for Jerome. Happy for him that he was able to redeem himself.

Someone will be getting a steal with Bromley if he goes that late.

Wonder if marrone will try to up-sell bromley to his GM. Too bad to hear about Macky and the bench press. Hope spruill, lyn and Macky are able to find a spot in a camp

Feel like Spruill could also be a steal. he and Bromley carried the defense. I also think Lyn is a very unique athlete with his size and speed.

I wonder what's up with the discrepancy in Jerome's 40 time between what Axe and Gil Brandt reported?

Macky is up to 306!?!? Wow, he's done a good job of adding weight. And if Hicks expected him to get 30 bench reps, it's quality weight.

I would take Spruill on the Giants in a minute. Kid is a ball-hawk and he could be a great asset as a blitzer and ST in the first few years in the NFL.

I'll be interested to see if he continues to put on weight. Bulluck wasn't much heavier when he went into the league.
