The Deer Hunter: Loved it or hated it.

I absolutely loved it and have loaned my DVD copy to people who have never watched it and they have hated it. I'm in shock but I guess I can understand why. It's long and it's got some very tough scenes in it. This movie made me DeNiro and Streep fans for life. They could be in the worst movie in the world (like their reunion film "Falling in Love") and I will still watch them. And, I even insisted that "Can't take my eyes off of you" be one of our songs when I got married (for the first time).

The movie won Best Picture Oscar which that in itself doesn't mean a whole lot but I am sure at the time it was somewhat controversial. I mean, how many three hour movies win anything. Or how many three hour movies do they even make.
