SU 17/31 Cornell 9/18 Total: 26/49
SU 18/30 Montana State 17/28 Total: 35/58
SU 13/20 Texas Southern 9/21 Total: 22/41

SU 11/24 Boston College 11/16 Total: 22/40
SU 16/27 Wake Forest 9/26 Total: 25/53
SU 26/23 Duke 18/24 Total: 44/47

In only one game was there a higher percentage of offensive rebounds. It makes we wonder why, in some games the players go hard after offensive rebounds and other games they don't. The Duke game was a big, important game but the Bonnies were not. The number of three pointers attempted is often cited as a factor. There were 56 such attempts in the Bonnie game, of which 36 were missed. Against Duke, 60 treys were attempted, of which 39 were missed. Here are the numbers on that for each game:

Lehigh 51 attempts - 13 makes = 38 misses
St. Bonaventure 56-20 = 36
Elon 48-14 = 34
Charlotte 47-19 = 28
Connecticut 46-19 = 27
Texas A&M 45-17 = 28
Wisconsin 42-12 = 30
Georgetown 45-15 = 30
Colgate 58-24 = 34
St. John's 50-17 = 33
Cornell 46-13 = 33
Montana State 57-16 = 41
Texas Southern 45-16 = 29
Pittsburgh 38-13 = 25
Miami 47-10 = 37
Clemson 51-21 = 30
North Carolina 47-12 = 35
Boston College 43-10 = 33
Wake Forest 45-12 = 33
Duke 60-21 = 39

There have been a lot of three pointers put in our games, as there are in a lot of games in this era. Maybe it has more to do with two point shots?

Lehigh 53 attempts - 20 makes = 33 misses
St. Bonaventure 62-28 = 34
Elon 69-32 = 37
Charlotte 47-19 = 28
Connecticut 62-30 = 32
Texas A&M 62-32 = 30
Wisconsin 74-33 = 41
Georgetown 67-34 = 33
Colgate 44-18 = 26
St. John's 78-37 = 41
Cornell 58-30 = 28
Montana State 75-39 = 36
Texas Southern 70-40 = 30
Pittsburgh 67-33 = 34
Miami 62-26 = 36
Clemson 63-31 = 32
North Carolina 77-47 = 30
Boston College 50-27 = 23
Wake Forest 61-30 = 31
Duke 73-27 = 46

So the Duke game featured more two point misses than any game this year. But the St. Bonaventure game was just average.

If the answer to a quandary isn't complicated, than it must be simple. I think that offensive rebounding is all about mindset. You have to want to get offensive boards. And if a player decides that he's going to go after the ball, his teammates will pick up and that and got after the ball themselves. And when the other team sees your team hitting the offensive boards, they will follows suit.

I think what happened last night was simply that Tyler Roberson decided to go get the ball.
