UNC Postgame Thoughts

Great time at the dome chirping the powder blue LOSERS on their way out! Gosh darn that was so long overdue. Easiest fanbase to hate IMO. Half of those powder blue people probably haven't even been to the state of North Carolina!

Team just looked perfect right from the start. It was insane to watch. Was thinking if Judah JJ and Bell actually play like the best version of themselves we have a chance. They came out and did that and more. Bell was not only making his classic contested standing shots, he was rebounding aggressively! Mintz was not only getting towards the rim and drawing fouls, he was actively looking to pass! JJ was a monster in the lane! We just beat UNC with 5.5 guys. So damn satisfying.

Did Judah travel?

That was some serious jelly.

Kudos to the ref for letting that go...

They missed three straight calls down the end of the game. They had to review tham to see that they were wrong. That isn't good.
what was worse was that for all three a ref was standing two feet away and still missed them

This team was basically buried 6 ft under and then put together that performance. So happy for them and the way the staff prepared them.
Random observations-
Justin Taylor booed by the students during intros? We have been critical of him on here, save it for the message boards and dont boo the kid before or during the game, come on.
Cormac Ryan is 25? One thing we seemed to have missed out on with guys getting these extra covid years is retaining or adding seniors or super seniors to have more experience. Its odd we added Swider and Jimmy Jr as seniors a few years back and that experiment kinda failed.
Now we have the challenge to keep these players grounded and focused on Gtech, the next game. Not dreaming of tournament but this is a signature win in Year 1 for Autry to give the fanbase some confidence in what he could be capable of. Rest of the way will still be tough, cant have the guards play 40 mins, need to mix in Cuffe at some point. Lets shoot for 18-20 wins and have a solid finish with these circumstances.
I’m just going to address only part of your post. These are very immature people who feed on the negative when a player is struggling or even a former player is doing well. (Girard) Pathetic show by so called “fans”. Nothing learned from Kaleb Joseph’s journey etc. Being negative is considered being cool, realistic, telling it like it is - uggh. It’s disgusting, such a lack of basic class being publicly displayed. Has to be a great recruiting tool. It’s seen on national tv, on posts here. Sickening. Ok, it probably won’t matter. I’m done.

THANK YOU!

Brown had two early treys and now has hit three in the last two games. He didnt miss tonight.

I actually hoped he would take a couple of more. If he is really capable of nailing them at a 35 to 40% clip consistently, that opens up our whole O and is the next big step in his development.
Brown seems to hit a 3 early in the game and then not shoot or make 3's as much later in the game. It's likely due to him being more tired having to play so many minutes.

Just watched the game over. Someone should have clocked Ryan (not really but…). The punk took down Brown but before that on the alley oop to Bell he not only hit him in the head but also full body rammed him. A dangerous play with a player in the air like that. Hope he gets his.

Well, if we never play m2m again we’ll have won the battle tonight but lost the war.

ryan did make a play on the ball . was he overly aggressive yes but his goal was not to let maliq raise his arms. the right call imo. and brown hopped right back up. what are your thoughts on bell's 2 hand rake to the face and eyes that sent cadeau to the bench bleeding or judah's "goal line tackle " as the announcers called it. flagrant also? neither of those were even reviewed. hard plays ? goes both ways.

I said this in the game thread. He’s discount Grayson Allen.

Lot of the UNC fans don't like him.

[EDIT: to be clear, a lot of UNC fans don't like Ryan and don't want him starting]

When was the Bell hit ? I was only able to see the last 4 minutes of the game.

Sorry, not even close.

Moved up to 85 in the NET. Only went up six spots. For comparison Pitt went up six spots too with their win against UVA. How does this make any sense?

More of a Euro-Hesi LOL!

Actually the Euro has been around forever but nobody called it a Euro. Had a fat kid that could play back in the 6th grade, was not fast, but he killed players with that slow-motion ass move.
In the 1970s - that would be called a travel 100% of the time. ;)

About 10 mins left in the game. Judah tossed an alley oop to Bell on a fast break.

The no call on that was terrible. I thought that could have been looked at as well. He just threw a roundhouse. Luckily just slapped the arm.

Thankfully replay bailed us out from a few other terrible calls.

It's not actually... I've seen traveling in the 70's. Fact is, it's not a natural move to change directions and speed with your second of two steps, that's all it is. Fast guys plant that foot and go left or right. Fast kids now use it because it's a good deceptive tool in your bag if you can do it and it's not a natural move to defend. Not everyone can do it, que the travel!

The chubby kid was so good at it because all he would do is rotate his arms and torso and he changed direction, not much need for a change of speed because he wasn't moving fast to start with.
