We beat UVA Monday (v2.0)

We’re in year 7 of our downturn.
It's really 9. We've been a bubble team or out for 8 out of the last 9 years. 2018-2019 we were solidly in as an 8 seed and lost to #9 Baylor, Frank got suspended and Tyus played point and freshman Buddy got 0 points as the 2 when pressed into a starting role with Frank gone.

Eh I know some people say 9 but I can’t call 2016 a “downturn”. After that, absolutely.

BUT SERIOUSLY, Press Virginia UVA and see what happens. At the very least we'll lose in a different and more exciting way than watching the disciplined zone offense of the Cavs utterly disembowel the passive zone.

I'm talking regular season, we were a bubble team that made a miracle run to the F4. We were lucky to be in the tourney that year too.

Indeed. No doubt that that surprise tourney run was incredible. But as you allude, we were on the bubble and hanging by a thread, especially after losing our first game in the ACC tourney to another bubble team in Pitt. We lost to Pitt for the third time that season, and many felt that the winner of that game was in and the loser out.

As fate had it...the bracket leaked and with quite astonishment we got in as a 10 seed playing Dayton a 7, a quite favorable match up. Then, perhaps even more astonishing, Middle Tennessee State knocks off the Mighty 2 seed MSU Spartans and the table is set.

Also to your point, we have not been ranked during the regular season come January (heart of conference play) since 2014.

Gonzaga was an 11 seed too.

We’re 1-14 in our last 15 games against top 10 teams. The win was at home against Duke in January 2019. So oh-fer-four years.
Wow, that's really sad. That seems like what a mid major program might have as their record. I've seen a lot of numbers that paint a picture of a steady decline with our program, that's just one more. That said, would love to be 2-15 after this evening.

Bill Self has been at Kansas for 20 years, starting after the 2003 national championship game. Kansas has never been worse than a 4 seed since.

Since the 2003 NC, JB’s teams have entered conference championship week on the bubble, on probation, or worse on 11 occasions.
