This looks a little different...

To the Players at My Dream Job My Players,
I am very sorry that I haven’t had an opportunity to speak to you in person regarding my move to the Buffalo Bills. Even though my extensive film study on the Bills previous to the Pinstripe Bowl might have tipped you off as to what was in the works, it happened very quickly when I was not in Syracuse because I was too busy interviewing with a quarter of the NFL, and when most of you were not in Syracuse. I will explain everything in depth when I meet with you in-person this weekend. Except for the Hackett thing probably.
For now, please know that accepting the job with the Bills was a very difficult decision for me, made easier by the bags truck loads sh'loads of cash they are giving me. When I took this job four and a half years ago, I explained that being the Head Coach at Syracuse University had always been my dream job, and that was the truth. Much like children dream of being an astronaut and then hurl in the zero- G simulators when they go to space camp, dreams can and will change, such that you can see yourself wearing Zubaz pants. Attending Syracuse University changed my life, and from the time I left this campus in 1985, and then returned for 5 additional senior years to graduate, I dreamed about returning one day as the head football coach. I was finally given the opportunity, and it has been the most DIFFICULT and the most REWARDING professional experience of my life. Truth to tell though, it hasn't been REWARDING enough to continue gutting through how DIFFICULT it has been. DIFFICULT wasn't in my binder. I suspect I'm better off punting from the 35 in the NFL. People get that there, right? I have learned so much from each of you. I do not have the words to express the satisfaction and the joy that coaching you has given me. I also don't have enough money to continue getting that satisfaction and joy coaching you.
You are my guys. Especially Macky. Sweet, sweet Macky. Mmm, Macky. You will always be my guys. Nassib more so than the rest of you, because I'm going to try and draft him. Not Joe, Ryan. Hack even more because he's coming with me. Syracuse University will always be my school. I spent more years at Syracuse than I did elementary school. I have never considered leaving Syracuse for another university. I don't think my credits would have transferred. But the fact is, when the Buffalo Bills called and offered to make me their head coach, I said yes because I am excited by the challenge. And also because I had talked with the Browns, Eagles, well, I mean you know who was hiring, but also mostly because I called the Bills and asked them if I could be their coach. And the sh'loads of cash.
I feel good about the progress the Syracuse Football Program has made under my leadership. .500 is a Helluva record, gnome sayin'? I believe that I am leaving the program in much better condition than I found it. I was way better than the other guy, since he might have been the worst coach in football history and I thank him for setting the bar really low. I will do everything in my power to ensure that your next head coach will continue on the path toward making Syracuse University a national football powerhouse. I was supremely confident that I couldn't do it, so I fully expect my input will be welcome on the Hill. I will always support Syracuse University Football. Except for right now, since I'm supporting the Bills. I will always support each of you. Probably. If there is any way that I can help you with cash loans football and with life skills your lives after football, reach out to me. Reach out to me even when you need money nothing, I want to hear how my guys are doing. Especially you, Macky.
Thank you for fulfilling a dream that I’ve had since I was 22 years old, and a decade away from graduating. Thank you for the privilege of being your coach. My thoughts and my heart will be with you on every down of every game. Whatever that means. That sounds like something Lombardi or Bryant would've said.
Work hard every day. Doubly hard when you prepare for a bowl and a job interview. Never take a short-cut. Just pimp yourself. Never quit. Like I did.
Love $$$,
Coach Marrone

The above is in no way a first draft of Marrone's email. It is a lame attempt at humor. Dark humor.

OFF THE CHART!!!!!

I had to have him pull that back up, one of the funniest things I have ever read on here. Pi$$ing my pants laughing, especially the mmm Macky, sweet Macky part.

Don't we have some info that said he did think about transferring when he was a player here lol

Yes, there was an article written, can't remember what the source was though.

This is really in poor taste bringing old stuff up like this now. It's not even the least bit funny anymore.

People we need to move on. We are now 2 coaches, 5 years past the Marrone era. He did his job by bringing us out of the dark age of the Greg Robinson era (I was there for every Grob game CuseOnly - were you?). I think Marrone hit his ceiling and at best would be an 8-9 win coach in the ACC. He is a pro coach, not a college coach.

In my opinion, Babers has no ceiling so let's turn the page and focus on the future and not the past. I am so positive about the future of SU football after meeting and talking to Coach Babers I don't want to even think anymore about the last 4 coaches...Babers is special and if he stays here long enough I expect him to be another Coach Ben or Mac and to compete for another national championship.

Posts like this are a waste of time and are irritating. I don't even know why I even clicked on the thread or responded to this nonsense...going to get some coffee to brighten my day...

Disagree. It's pretty funny.

You have to wonder what Dino thinks about fans who are basically tearing down the tradition that he is trying to build up . Very milltown backwater thinking , as opposed to what he is trying to get across.

Please.
Like Dino gives a cr@p about a humorous post regarding the coach who was here two coaches prior to him?

It has exactly NOTHING to do with anything going on w the current staff and situation.

Some people need to grow a sense of humor.

Tradition? That's already been well torn down.

Now we have a Nike-dictated nickname, and gradient numbers with 44 degree stripes that supposedly evoke the skyline of a city over four hours away.

But at least we have statues now to remind us that we had tradition once.

My undying hope is that Coach Babers builds a national power football program. As for tradition, I've reconciled with myself that the Syracuse University football tradition is dead, buried, and memorialized.

Coach Babers just got done talking about the unbelievable tradition here at Syracuse , how it is up there with some of the greatest programs. Doug Marrone play offensive line for coach Mac . He played in the '84 game where we beat Nebraska in one of the greatest games in SU history. He took the program out of the sewer and made respectable. And of course any coach who gives his heart and soul would deeply respect that and I'm sure Dino does.

He's not reading posts here. Guy understands humor.

The line about punting from the 35 is some of my best work ever, so your post stings a little bit.

I jest. I linked back to this in the other thread because CuseOnly asked about it. I wrote it originally because at the time people were freaking out and I felt it could help some fans to have some levity about the situation. I mean, Marrone somewhat out of the blue left after the most exciting season of football we'd had since the McNabb years. Marrone did a ton to pull us out of the dumpster, it looked like we were on the way up, and the guy we thought was in his dream job disappeared. That's part of our history too.

Another of my all-time classics.

I turned out to be wrong about McDonald himself, but the logic was sound. For example, substitute the name "Dino Babers" for McDonald and tell me how crazy this actually sounds:

It's clear that McDonald can't do the things he really wants to do with the roster we have right now. He's a former wideout - he wants the ball in the air. That should excite us, because again, WE ARE THE ONLY BCS PROGRAM THAT COMPETES IN A WEATHER CONTROLLED FACILITY (hard-boiled eggs!). Of all the programs in college football built to base their offense on passing, we're an obvious choice. I think McDonald's getting us there. That's a good thing.

The McDonald error was so avoidable.

This could be year four instead of coming off of 7-17
