Zach Arnett new Syracuse DC...or not.

Im excited about the hire. His numbers speak for themselves. My concerns will be fitting current players into the 3-5. He has to fit his pieces in for max production and we need to be better now. Not sure if we can be as good as we can be next season because of a scheme switch. Some DT's will have to play 5 tech's. DE's will have to play some OLB. They will have to learn different reads, techniques, different run and pass fit responsibilities.

Gotta figure that our 6’3” Canadian tweener LB/DEs are going to have a field day.

The announcement didn’t say Arnett would be coaching LB’s here so he may just solely be the DC.

That said, I would think with a new DC coming in decisions will be made to retain or let go anyone on the current Defensive staff. I’m sure Arnett has some guys in his network or on his current staff he wants with him here.
I've heard Stanard and Monroe are staying.

Timing makes a lot of sense as well. Right before the coaches clinic. Dino can go down and talk to other defensive position coaches to sell our defense and Arnett to them. Have to think Dino is going down with priority one looking for a LB coach and hopefully Arnett is down at the clinic with Babers. I like this a lot.

Arnett is the LB coach too

So from a schematic standpoint do we think with our current players this will be an easier transition?
Like the hire just curious as to thoughts on implementation.

LSU board talking about him yesterday

Any position (recruiting) coaches on the East Coast who know the 3-3-5?

DL: Jonathan, Black, Williams
LB: Wallace, Jones, Kpogba
"Aztec": Cisco
DB: Iffy, Trill, Stritzinger, TBD

Think there's great opportunity for a guy like Kadeem Trotter/Tyrell Richards at DL, and really hoping Cam Jonas/Neil Nunn can step in at DB.

I think we actually have the right personnel to make this work from day 1.

EDIT: Somehow forgot about Bear Williams at DL.

This is great. Attacking D that fits some personnel issues immediately (not to mention some long term issues with recruitment).

Excited to see what the 2 deep will look like on D. So many questions. Who plays the nose and the mike? I would like to see Richards as an OLB in this and awesome to think about Cisco roaming the middle with Iffy and Trill at the corners.

Had to look up what the Aztec was. Agree that Cisco would be great for this.
