All season long there was a parent that sat behind me, I don't know who's dad he was and he never said. His only comment was that he had a vested interest.

    2024 Yankees Season

I too was bummed that I didn't get to hear the last game Sterling announced. I grew up with Scooter, Messer and White on the radio back in the 70's. Sterling and Waldman, love them or hate them, for me they have been great to listen to the past few decades. Baseball on the radio is unmatched.

Not a good look at all. I don't get it either other than they're used to having 3 or 4 colleges be the elites for 3+ decades and Iowa isn't one of them. I like Stewie, what the hell is she thinking? It doesn't take a lot to show a bit of respect even if you'd don't want to, which they obviously...

Women’s college basketball gets its Game of the Century

I thought this was a good opinion piece on Washington Post about how media treats women's sports. The article is gifted so no paywall. Edit: I see now that it's a bunch of letters to the editor, the first three are about sports, keep reading after those at your own risk. Women’s college...

yes, that's what I'm thinking too. That would be big news since I'm not sure UConn has identified a successor. Maybe they have, I haven't really paid attention.

    Caitlin Clark

In the story I posted Clark had the grace to recognize these older records, too bad the players complaining about her couldn't gather a scintilla of the same respect: "Instead, it has been left to Clark to pay proper respect. She went out of her way to talk about Woodard and the AIAW after she...

Found it As Caitlin Clark breaks all the records, the NCAA can correct its own "NCAA record-keepers don’t acknowledge women’s basketball existed before it took the game over in the 1980s. Exactly when do they think women acquired their knowledge of the game? From online seminars? “For some...

There was a story about women's basketball before the NCAA was formed and what the teams had to go through just to get to their games. I'll see if I can find it and post the link here. None of their records are on the books, none. NCAA does not consider them valid since it all happened before...

There wasn't a lot of interest in women's basketball until the league had some parity. Who wants to invest their time when only 2 or 3 teams had a chance at winning it all? Christ, UConn hasn't missed a Sweet 16 in 30 years
  30. KellySyracuse

    Caitlin Clark

Terrible foul call at the end but no tears for UConn losing this one. I'm not a fan of Iowa but it helps the league to have a college take down one of the elites with so many eyeballs on the game. I have no prediction on how Sunday's matchup is going to go.

it's not easy to get interest in the game when the same 4 schools always win it all. Women's college bball is still on the left side of the curve compared to men's bball thanks to the colleges and the NCAA.

SC vs Iowa would be a fair match. I don't see UConn getting past Clark if she's on her game tonight, they have too many injuries.

Quentin Hillsman hired by Ole Miss as Asst Coach

I'm not at all surprised, how Q was able to stay in charge for so long is disgraceful. He used to have melt downs on the sideline, screaming at players on the court. FLJ has some meltdowns too and will drop F bombs on occasion, nothing like Q though.

Quentin Hillsman hired by Ole Miss as Asst Coach

I don't think it was mentioned in The Athletic that it started prior to the mass exodus of players but I could be wrong. Of course I have no inside information either so I'm not disputing your post.

Latham has a better NIL option from one of the other big players, I'm not sure where McEvans is going to end up. I wish they both had stayed, sometimes the grass isn't always greener.
