I think it might be time to add a hefty coach's fine to the penalty.

Shafer and our defense are better men than I for not going John Cheaney and putting a hit out on Conner Rush. CMU had no chance with Dungey in there so they took him out. CMU would have no chance without Rush so wouldve been quite easy to level the score. In my post ejection hit tirade I was kind of hopingwe'd see exactly that.

As I mentioned on another thread here, a $$$ penalty will surely begin to stop this - I looked up the case of that unfortunate Rutgers player who is now quadriplegic - it was a 2010 game against Army, he was a DT, and it appeared he made the tackle with his head forward. Not only can the target be injured but also the player making such a hit!

He did put his head down to make the punishing hit on the player and he paid the price for it...totally unfortunate circumstance, but he was a product of that coaching style by Shady.

I get it that coaching enters into it. I think maybe the NCAA should have a training program for all college football players/coaches about this head/neck business b/c it is so serious. You can't leave this to the schools/coaches alone. Let the NCAA use some of that money they collect to do something good.
