10 things to watch: SU Football’s 3-3-5 D ready for some ‘old-fashioned smackin’' at North Carolina

Richards will be missed in game 1, or hopefully someone fills in and impresses.

I'm all over the place on how it's going to go tomorrow.
1. How depleted is NC?
2. Is #18 NC reading their press clippings and taking us lightly?
3. Will the OL be a stable entity or will TD be running for his life.
4. Can we force some breaks (TOs, Returns, 3s and out)?
4.5. Can we reduce the dropped passes or missed receivers?
5. I'd like to keep our D off the field
6. Line went from 17.5 to 22.5. The perception is not good.
7. Any break out performers? Yes please. (Benson, Jordan, Thompson, anyone named Williams, a receiver)
8. As a novice football strategist, I say screw the schemes, (somewhat), don't necessarily play "assignment" football. Just strap it on and get the hell after it.
9. 60 minutes of being in the zone. We love you guys.
LGO!!

As usual how the oline goes so does this team. If they can give TD more the 1.5 seconds and open some holes we should be able to move the ball. If not no matter how the defense plays they will be gassed by the 3 quarter.
I know the line is suspect but I am interested in seeing Elmore. If he can beat out p Davis there must be something there. We also return three starters and tinsdale who has experience.

Laff! This is one of the most beautiful quotes that I have ever heard:

"I like what they do with their bodies when they want to run into something”

Wait a minute, he got a whole 1.5 seconds last year. Would have guessed .75 on average.

I hate the comment that Elmore would be one of the smallest olinemen in the country. There is a distinct difference between height and size. Is he one of the shortest? Sure. But at 289 lbs he is not small.

It's nice to have a guy that can fill in at several positions when needed. He may not be the best player at any of the positions he's played for SU, but he's tough and motivated. I'm sorry we need him on the OL, but I like to watch him play. Best wishes young man...

I'm glad he has Servais next to him if there are any assignment confusions. Feel much better with him at LG since our line actually played alright last when Servais went back to tackle and Vetterello moved back inside. Doesn't hurt that he's a damn smart kid as well.

I think what's between the ears is an incredibly underrated measurement in linemen.

Is Elmore the epitome of “better to be consistently good than occasionally great?”

Most guards seem to come in around 315 plus

That's not what the journalist referenced. He said olineman. There are plenty his size and lighter. I'm not worried about his size.

I'm not sure our D can hold up.

That series was pathetic.

The pass to Benson on 2nd wouldn't have gained anything.

This play calling is awful.
