1989 SU-Duke currently on ESPN Classic

My friend Mike, Uber Duke fan, called up to Syracuse and told me I had to come down for the game. Since I had young kids at home, I was thrilled that my husband agreed and I had the whole weekend to myself. I was one of the few Syracuse fans in the Greensboro Coliseum, and I wore an orange sweatshirt. When Syracuse came out on the floor with Otto, The entire duke fan base stood up, pointed, and chanted, " silly mascot! Silly mascot!" I knew that Mike was a pretty intense fan, but got to see it myself up close and personal. At one point he was standing on the armrests of his chair, shrieking at the top of his lungs. It was a most satisfying victory, which I celebrated quietly to myself while Mike moped and muttered darkly all the way back to Durham.

I believe that is right. That game was awesome. Tons of dunks. Stevie started at point guard.
Stevie was already displaying coaching instincts. With under a minute to go & Duke trying to foul, he instantly called a timeout upon catching a pass just before the Duke player grabbed him. He understood that he was not the player to go to the line...total team-1st, heady play.

Reminds me of the time i invited a friend from philly to watch us play drexel(philly school) in the dome back in 06-07 (The senior nichols year). That Drexel team went on to lose to nc state in the first round of the nit. Maybe our worst loss of the last decade. Certainly the game that sealed the deal with our nit bid. He wasn't a drexel fan, but now I find this slightly humorous.

Or the time me and my two army friends traveled to a syracuse lacrosse game from Drum the first year we didn't make the final four in 20 years, I hadn't been to a Cuse lacrosse game since we had one at halftime of the the football spring game when the Gates were there. Anyway, we were playing army. Sure enough we lost that one due to army having a brickhouse goalkeeper, first loss of the year. My two friends got a laugh out of that one, one of them ended up jumping on a ballon right after the game ended. I don't think they realized they were watching the end of a special run.

Slightly comical, life goes on I suppose :)
