That was the last time an ACC Championship game was played that didn't involve either UNC or Duke.

Since 1975 there's only been 3 ACC title games without Duke or UNC.

Can us and UVA break the streak this year? That's remarkable.

Unfortunately my strongest memory of 1996 is Walter McCarty climbing over Reafsnyder's back in the championship game back to get a rebound on a missed free throw late in the second half with us down by one. A foul properly called there would have completely changed the dynamic. I lost my voice screaming at the TV.
