Some interesting data from 2010.

Rutgers once again magically had revenues meet expenses for football, they also had the second highest expenses for the BEC programs after Pitt in 2010.

SU football was $2.4M to the good in 2010. Uconn reported a $373K loss, Rutgers and Pitt broke even.

L'ville is a printing press. $25M in revenues, $10M more than expenses, for football. Reported revenues from Basketball was $41M!

ND football is obviously a beast, $69M in revenues.

And guess who came in 3rd in the conference in combined FB & BB revenues (including ND). Syracuse, with $38M.

Congrats to TGD, and that's before entering the ACC goodie room.

$3M more than Pitt, and $10M than WVU after that.

"Broke even" = Tapped general fund to make up shortfall but didn't bother to report the actual size of the hole

Louisville will be in the Big 12 eventually, or somewhere else in any event. That kind of money talks.

I wonder if the immediate upgrades to the football facilities result from the existing revenue stream and projections, as opposed to anticipated ACC revenue.

Where does that L'ville money come from? Are they that popular locally in both sports?

SU should use that 2.4m to improve facilities.

Exactly what I was thinking

Wait a minute, does that mean hoops generated a profit of roughly 35 mil? Where is my math wrong... Lax? I don't believe women's softball is helping generate revenue...

No. Revenue does not equal profit.

SU revenues for both Basketball and Football were about $19M.

Obviously, I'm a idiot. That's what happens when you read fast and aren't very smart!

If you take out beer sales, are we in the red?

I'm certainly doing my part to contribute in that area.

Got a link for this data?

The YUM Center is a gold mine for Louisville. Louisville is a slightly bigger version of Syracuse and like Cuse it is their pro team. Pretty sure the new addition to Papa John Stadium is helping their bottom line in FB.

they will probably need to put that money toward settling some of the lawsuits related to Bernie Fine.

We'd be better off with naming rights to the dome if we were tied down with the Carrier agreement which was only about $2.75 million for life if I am correct. You would think we could get at least a million a year in naming rights if they'd release us from that. Minnesota, Central Florida and Maryland all get around $1m/year. Minnesota gets a bit more than a million, Maryland a bit less than a million and Central Florida exactly a million.

I think Syracuse basketball alone could bring in more money for the Dome than all of those schools combined...
