From ESPN...

Ebenezer Ogundeko, DL, Thomas Jefferson (Brooklyn, N.Y.)
Ogundeko recently landed his first offer from Syracuse and showed that more could be on the way with a stellar testing day in Philadelphia. The 6-foot-2 ½, 227-pound defensive end had one of the day's top power ball tosses at 42 feet, and also ran a solid 5.04 40 and 4.69 shuttle for an 87.39 SPARQ Rating. Ogundeko earned second team all-borough honors from The New York Daily News last fall.

Really like this kid's video. It reminds me of Tim Green when he was in HS. A lot of desire and athletic talent in a somewhat undersized body. He appears to have the frame to grow. Like a lot of NYC players, it will probably take him a year or two before he is ready to play.

I'm surprised a 5.04 40 cuts it for a DE. I figured only DTs would be above 5.

Running above a 5 doesn't necessarily mean you're slow... If the person has never been taught how to run with the correct stance or line up and hasn't practiced it hundreds of times then even the fastest person would run a crap 40 time (especially on a electronic 40 timer). I used to go Strength in Motion (former SU trainers own) back in the good ol days and shaved off .5 seconds my 40 time just learning the right technique. Plus you factor in Ebeneezer is from BK and may not have the best coaches, facilities then it could be assumed he is just talent and it wouldn't take too much to mold him into a monster.

I know this didn't answer any questions about the kid but just merely trying to put some perspective on his 40 time.

It's the first 5-10 that matter for a DE

Man if only this kid played basketball! Our christmas themed names would be complete.

PHILADELPHIA -- Every player has his own motivation. For Ebenzer Ogundeko, it is to make his mother’s move to America worth it in his eyes.

“My mom is from Nigeria,” Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y./Thomas Jefferson) said, “and the main reason she came to America was to bring me and my brothers to get up to school. Our goal was to get a [football] scholarship to go to a school.”

On Friday, Syracuse became the first FBS program to offer Ogundeko, who already held an offer from North Carolina A&T.
