Mika Adams-Woods Named CNY Large Schools Player of the Year for 2015-16
Bishop Ludden’s Mika Adams-Woods considers himself a “pass-first guard.”
But the 6-foot-2 sophomore, who led the Catholic school to the Section III Class AA (large schools) sectional title in February, can put the ball through the basket a little bit, too.
Adams-Woods scored 21.5 points per game for the 20-4 Gaelic Knights, who advanced to the state quarterfinals, where they lost to then-undefeated Shenendehowa.
Named this year’s All-Central New York large schools Player of the Year, Adams-Woods is poised to become a big-time recruit if his development continues.
“We asked him to do a lot more than score this year,” Bishop Ludden coach Donnelly said. “He is grossly underrated as a defender and rebounder.”
Adams-Woods, who just turned 16, is already getting preliminary looks from some Division I schools, including Syracuse, Stanford, Davidson and Virginia.
George Washington and East Carolina have offered scholarships, but most observers expect that list will grow considerably if Adams-Woods can keep turning heads with his AAU basketball team, the Albany City Rocks.
