Only 6 weeks in, 19" practices/scrimmages to tell much more. Early morning weather was cold, windy and sun did not show until Syracuse was done for day. Short narrow field also restricted transition play for all teams so not best gauge but thought overall play was encouraging as bit sharper than expected given conditions .Orange kicked off day and played back to back games starting with Delaware at 9 am, that team is presently neither as strong or as deep a team as us. Sluggish start by Orange O but began to separate by end of 1q n we were clearly deeper team . Varello Phoup and Garlow dominated face-offs with clean wins though Upenn fogo had many clean ones moving forward in 2nd half. Voight impressed vs first liners in both games, good hands and quick release as Refhuss and others able to find him.. Cook scoring limited but skillset quite evident and rotation role likely.2nd line was Carlin, Quinn and either OSullivan or Buttermore, Osullivan left early with slight pull while Buttermore scored three times and the other two had some good moments. Quinn sees the field well. .Porter, Strang, Klan all saw and reacted to ball well. UPenn was a very good team playing their first game at 11. Believe Cuse was up 8-5 at half then called it a day for several primary players on both ends. It was the 1st contest for Penn and do not think their subbing was exactly the same. 13-11 UPenn by scrimmage end. Know UPenn approached second game differently, using bench extensively in loss to Hobart in their second game... Our 18 class is solid throughout but not sure where they factor in 19' season given our second layer of depth. Envision many rooks red shirting , they all played and contributed vs Delaware but were more limited vs Upenn. Kims to my eye have been most visible 18 mids in their runs to date . Believe DiPietro n Magnan were also held out due to mild strains and cold weather.
