Do Jonas and/or Williams redshirt?

How ready are Coley, Melifonwu, and Clarke?

Do stritz or trotter contribute or play elsewhere on the team?

Overhaul is needed. Foster and Frederick played nice at times but i expect the younger guys to compete. Scoop played well too. But we need to be MUCH better

I think if Stritz were to make the change over to DB - he would play well at CB.

I think Clarke and Meli will be able to contribute. Next year, we will see more of Dino’s recruits on the field, especially with them being two years in the strength program.

Jonas coming off his ACL injury will be interesting to see. He has the size and talent to play. Hopefully everything goes well with rehab and he’s ready to go. IMO, he’s the best DB we’ve had since Eskridge.

Is Atrilleon good enough to risk not redshirting? He may be a better player than any db we have imo.

IMO - yes. Trolls a stud. Size and speed are already there.

Melifonwu will play. He might not be a starter but he will play. I don't think it is fair to judge Scoop, after the arm injury he was a completely different player. I was disappointed in Foster and wouldn't consider him a lock to start next year. Stritzenger might as well play defense or just leave now, I can't see any way he plays running back here. The defense completely changed after Martin got hurt. This defense needs two safties who can divide the field in to two halves and it just hasn't happened yet. I think Ward will get to start the year as the coordinator but the D better produce or he won't make it through the season.

Why doesn't he have a chance at RB...Have you seen our RB production lately? My grandmother deserves a shot to play based on what I saw this year.

I never said he doesn't deserve a chance. Do you think he will really get one? Strickland and Neal or already ahead of him and Jordan brings elite speed and quickness. Hell they Pierre and Perkins ahead of him this year. I actually though Neal looked pretty good the last two weeks.

Our running backs had a very solid second half of the year i thought

Remember, nobody is ahead of anybody when Spring Ball starts. He was told he would get a shot at RB and if he proves in practice that he can be on the 2 deep then he should play.

You need 2-3 RB's that can play anyhow. Today we were down to Moe and well Moe.

Foster is on notice, his play really regressed. Carl Jones was trying to play safety today and he just doesn’t have the instincts to play safety. Not in his limited snaps I saw anyways. Can’t have a safety who shys away from contact either. He barely wanted to hit anybody today. Move him back to corner.

Clark has been in the system for two years now. He’s been a safety his whole life and has legit safety size at 6-2 190. He’ll also be hungry. I’m
putting all my eggs in his basket along with Melifonwu (6-3 200) to finally upgrade the position with P5 size to go with Cordy.

Everyone else returns to which is only a good thing.

Secondary should be fine with a couple of subtle tweaks. First, we are set with Fredericks, Cordy, and Scoop. Foster is a talented kid who shouldn’t have been doing anything else than special teams in an ideal world.

If you think about it, we essentially lost 3 out of 4 with Cordy, Martin, and Scoop playing with half an arm. That being written, you can now see how poor the depth behind those players truly is.

I personally think our safety position needs an overhaul, as Williams, Ellison, and Jones just aren’t anything other than borderline depth guys as of now. If I am the staff I bring in another grad transfer or JUCO to help out as the younger kids like Meli or Cooke learn the ropes and mature.

As for the CB position, I really like a healthy Scoop and Fredericks. They are solid when healthy (Scoop should have been shut down). We’ll miss Devin Butler, and I’d grab another GT or JUCO to bridge the gap. As talented as a kid like Trill Williams is, that’s a huge jump and he probably won’t be ready for 2-3 years. Heck, to might need 2 GTs now that I think about it.

No offense to you because I like you as a poster but that no one is ahead of anyone else stuff is bs coach speak. Dino trust Strickland and someone will have to blow him away to force a change. Stritzenger wasn't all that great as a senior in high school.

Foster has been awful for the past three weeks. He appears lost and can’t cover or tackle.

Very strange he seemed to regress. I hope he was hurt or trying to make up for Williams mistakes.

I hope Cordy finally has a healthy season. He might have made a huge difference on all those "Uh -Oh" plays that went the distance this year. I also want to see what Coley can do. He was awesome at -M last year.

A bonafid JUCO safety AA would be ideal or an all-conference type lower tier GT fine to. Either way. Something to help bridge the gap with Clarke and Melifonwu’s inexperience would help.

A Gt can’t be a convert though. Gotta be a lifetime safety.

Hurt doesn’t cover for the mental mistakes. The RPO qbs really exposed him.

This is pure speculation that can likely be disregarded, but I’ve gotta think that central connecticut was his “shot” at RB. He was a highly touted safety. I wonder if they gave him that “chance” so he would come here over the schools recruiting him at safety with the expectation that we could move him to safety after he failed at RB.
