Senior quarterback Eric Dungey, redshirt senior defensive lineman Chris Slayton and redshirt junior punter Sterling Hofrichter have been elected team captains for the 2018 season, Syracuse head football coach Dino Babers announced today. The trio was elected in a recent team vote.
"Eric, Chris and Sterling have carried themselves the right way both on and off the football field," Babers said. "Their consistency and their commitment to bringing the younger players along have put us in a position to achieve some things that haven't been done here in a long time."
For Dungey (offense) and Hofrichter (special teams), it's the second year in a row they've been elected captain of their respective units. Prior to the vote, captains rotated on a weekly basis for the first nine games.
