Syracuse
Is this the Year of the Orange? It appears so, as Syracuse returns nine seniors from a team that defied outsiders’ expectations last season. Emily Hawryschuk might be the Tewaaraton favorite in preseason, and Megan Carney returns to her natural right side. There are a pair of 30-point scorers at midfield in Sam Swart and Mary Rahal. The expectations are really high out of Syracuse heading into the season.
Deservedly so. I’m curious to see how well she will lead the team this season but she is an incredible player who I’m sure will be coaching in the near future. She’s drawn influence from the men’s canadian box style and fused it into the way she plays— which has added another interesting element to women’s lacrosse and watching her specifically. Really hoping she can lead this team to the final 4 and better yet win our first national championship/tewaaratan award!
